Oregon getting hit hard with NCAA sanctions?

Welp.

Just heard from my guy today, who's been spot on with just about everything, from DeAnthony Thomas to Arik Armstead, to Darron leaving early, and the latest with Lyerla.

NCAA is close to delivering their verdict, and it's not nearly what we were hoping for, or what we thought we'd see 2 months ago. The lowlights:

4 years probation
2 year bowl ban
30 scholarships over 3 years
No off campus recruiting for Campbell or Pellum in 2013
And there are questions, regarding DATs eligibility, but that is not resolved, and will be rolled into a separate investigation.
Announcement was supposed to come today, but will likely not be released by the NCAA or UO until later in the week.

All I know for now.

Just an FYI, The Mainboard is basically unmoderated and many posts are NSFW.

This seems like a decent source, though.

And credit to the Rivals board where I saw this posted.

so what did the ducks do again?

Paid a street agent to deliver recruits.

seems like a bit of an out of whack penalty if that is it. Cal paid the same guy and got nothing. Perv state got the similar annual scholly restrictions for letting coaches rape people.

Mirrors the USC sanctions which didn't even find a direct connection between the university and the agent.

yes but in that case the agent was giving then money to NCAA athletes and you know we cant have athletes with cash. Has Lyles been proven to be providing housing etc for student athletes?

NCAA: Paying players or their agents is almost as bad as covering up child rape.

Also, the user who made the post has removed it.

well...if true, i say it's a bad thing for us. CU needs the pac-12 to be as good as it can be. the only way we get better is if our conference maintains its relevance and continues its momentum upward. i'm happy SC is getting back on track after their penalty, and i'd hate to have to give up one upper-echelon team for another...

This probably means UW will regain its spot as the power of the NW which it held for a long time.

And DAT (D'Anthony Thomas) might be inegible as well.

@dinkdumpdish @illionaire2006 ....exactly ... legit source, too ... not "trolling message boards" as some erroneously suggesting

@CBrueyWFTV ...had same thought. Bowl season could be worse than ever in 2012-13 with or without Ducks

@mikefeigen ..hah! If sources accurate, certain Ducks might be wearing purple and gold by 2013

Sources telling me #Oregon could face scholarship redux and bowl ban ... also key current players under investigation

Rumors beginning to circulate that #Oregon could get whacked very hard by NCAA within the week ... worse than many expect

If true I feel kinda bad for Oregon. Like abs said, Pedo State gets a similar punishment, but I'd argue the crimes were somewhat different..

Anyone remember when CU was announcing its move to the Pac-10 and the same day the NCAA handed down its verdict to USC? Pac-12 Network is launching tomorrow...smells fishy to me.

If true, I'd have to chalk it up to the football gods' retribution against Chip's black magik offense. Also, the going for two against helpless opponents. SMITE THE EVIL-DOER!

Anything bad happening to PAC schools has to be good for CU at this point. Less scholarships at SC and the Ducks improves CU's chances in recruiting.

Well, Oregon can just follow the USC model and sign 328 players before the sanctions kick in. :smile2:

Oregon has been and is dirty. I wouldnt doubt Usc is cheating, maybe they are smart enough to use cash withdrawals for personal reasons, say I needed 80 grand to buy a boat. Thats why Im tired of hearing players should get paid. First of all they are, second they get told not to flaunt the **** they get extra, third it has been going on since the beginning. Wanna really take money out of the equation, the ncaa needs to go. Im not so sure they hammered Penn St because of what they knew or they thought it would give them praise. **** never know these days.

Who do we want off their recruit list...I'm guessing just about everybody? Might be worth taking a look if we were getting serious looks from any of their guys. I think we really wanted one of their WR commits.

I can almost guarantee u this tosh guy at udub is dirty. He fits the profile, all good programs have a dude like that. Give him credit for what he does but **** people do the math.

What is that based on? Not saying you are wrong, I am just trying to understand. Thomas is from the LA area, iirc, and didn't have any connections to Lyles (Texas area).

If anything Snoop Dog is behind something with DAT. Nah, Snoop would have pushed him to SC.

We got $5,000 worth of dvds, spreadsheets and other material (which was also made available to the NCAA) but nothing illegal was done nor did any recruits sign with us. LSU and Texas also paid for his services and received some current and some older material in return. I do not think any players from those lists signed with them either. Oregon paid a lot for no material and when asked (after Oregon was being investigated on the matter), Lyles produced outdated material amounting to what should have been about 5-10K had it been for the year in question. Hindsight is 20-20 and in retrospect, we should never have dealt with him but we're clean.
