"I had been talking to Coach (Eric) Bieniemy from Colorado on Facebook," said Riley. "He said the whole staff watched my highlights and liked them.

"He sent me his phone number and told me to call him. When I called, he said he had good news. He asked how many offers I had, and I told him, 'Three. '

"Coach Bieniemy then said, 'Now you got four.'"

:smile2:

More good stuff in the article. Sounds like EB and Cabral made an impression.

John Curtis LB Duke Riley picked up five quick offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Colorado, Tulane and TCU. He's scheduled to be at TCU this weekend for the Horned Frogs' Junior Day. How athletic is Riley? He finished second in the 55 meter hurdles in his division at the state indoor track and field meet last weekend.

"My dad has actually talked to me about checking out Colorado," Riley told BuffStampede.com. "My dad has always wanted to go see Colorado, just to see how it is out there. I guess we'll get out there. I'd like to visit every school that has offered."

We are in it, but I'm worried that he hasn't set a date to visit yet and wants to commit prior to his senior season. Gonna be tough to get him and his dad here on an OV in time.

Based on his comments, I'm not sure any early commitment would be solid anyway. He just wants to male sure he has a landing spot. It sounds like he'll take at least a couple OV's either way, so I'd think we have a shot.

Video interview. Sounds pretty open but does say that he's planning on taking official visits to Colorado, Ole Miss, TCU, and Cincinnati so I guess that would be his top 4. We were mentioned first which is probably a good sign.

Buff lock

Kiss of death.

How many times have we seen "Buff lock" this year only to have the kid commit someplace else soon after.

Hope he becomes a Buff but after enough dissapointments I believe it when the kid actually commits then signs the LOI.

I don't think we're going to be devoting much effort to Louisiana recruiting following the coaching change.

Anyway, I always thought that Duke was a perfect fit as a GS at LSU given the athleticism and needing some time to develop after playing small school ball. I wish him the best.

Probably for the best, not enough returns here.

I admit we'll probably not be recruiting there much, especially with no connections on the staff. It's an area to certainly keep an eye on though and gauge interest. I'm a little biased.
As far as Riley, I think he's a good pick up for LSU, despite having to wait so long. His school, Curtis, plays in a smaller division, but they have to play at least 3-4 games every year against larger schools because no school will schedule them unless they are serious about football. It's a football factory if I've ever seen one. They're pretty much single handedly responsible for the public schools in Louisiana voting to separate themselves from private schools during the football playoffs.
