What if Wood went in?

The outcome is what it is, there is no changing that and CSU deserved the win.

That being said, I have to wonder what would have happened if they put Wood in after Webb got hurt. Is Wood that far behind that Webb could outplay a healthy backup? I think this is a question we should demand be answered in the coaches radio call in show this week.

Man, that game had some of the worst decisions I've seen, everything from playcalling to who's in the game. I can understand we are young, but most of our flaws came from coaching, NOT young players.

The coaches definitely didn't put the players in the best position. But, Jones (Soph), Mosley (Fr), Crawley (Fr), Goodson (So) all fumbled

Mosley didn't fumble. He was ruled down. And of those plays, only Goodson's fumble was lost. The other turnover came on a fumble by Webb (Jr.).

true, but I still think the bad playcalling outnumbered those by a mile. Still can't believe our last offensive play.:bang:

You do have to wonder if Wood would've been able to do something. Webb wasn't able to accomplish anything in the 2nd half. I keep going back to assuming Wood is just that bad, but I have trouble trusting the coaches evaluation this week.

I would like to believe that Connor might have lowered his shoulder on that forth and goal instead of throwing out of the back of the endzone.

I doubt much changes with the outcome, may have been better may have been worse. We'll never know.

I tend to agree, but would like an answer from Embree on why a healthy Wood didn't go in for a struggling and injured Webb in the second half. Not fair to both players IMO.

The title strikes me as a TOS violation.

At any rate, you don't pull your starting QB that early...even if he's gimpy. Every fan thinks the backup QB is the answer to everything. We used to scream at Halk for not removing his son's redshirt. We're idots.

The tough thing with these types of hypotheticals is they're after the fact, so:

A (Webb plays the whole way). On this hand, we know we lose.

B (Wood comes in at some point). On this hand, there's a chance we don't lose.

This is why the backup QB is always the most popular guy in town. He shoulders no blame for the loss and gets to keep wearing the "potential" mantle.

Hopefully we'll see a blowout Saturday and a good number of snaps from Wood. Right now, I have absolutely nothing on which to base an opinion on him.

I don't agree. I get if he is just struggling, but he was obviously injured. IMO, thats putting a further risk that he gets injured worse if he stays in. This staff proved two things on Saturday. 1, They proved they have zero confidence in our backup QB's. And 2, they proved they were too chicken **** to run the ball late (two passes on two 4th and short yardage).

CSU toyed with us and our staff. We looked like a bunch of ****ing pussies.

right. this is the one that go me, too. on 4th down, with a qb who can't get any push because of his hip, when you need a foot to get into the endzone, why in the hell wouldn't you put another guy in for that play?

it made no sense to roll him out, he couldn't get anything on the ball anyhow with a sore hip and on the run. that play was the highlight of a very, very ****** job of playcalling, imho.

hell, put in creer at qb and let him put his shoulder down for the endzone. that play was destined to fail from the beginning.

Had Connor run the same play he'd have been lowering his shoulder 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage and out numbered just like Webb. It was a terrible play call plain and simple, we admitted we couldnt beat CSU right then and there - if we cant go straight at a non-AQ school for 1 yard we should give up and move to the Mountain West.

Sorry Powell is getting the ball there, I think he houses it too. Hard to say about Wood, seems like the ability is there but something isnt. We were getting pressure on 3 step drops, that is a bad sign. We didnt block it and couldnt get open. Release is everything as a wr. Spruce played really well and T Mac did a good job too, except for a few plays. I probably more shocked by the oline than anything, that was bull****.

Because the online was playing a game of "if the defense touches me I'll get cooties" and Webb got utterly destroyed.

Some of you guys were there, on some of those 3 step drops, were our receivers not getting off the line? Didnt really show it on tv that I saw anyway. 90 series u cannot get jammed, ball has to get out. I saw him hold it, I was like oh ****.
