Player development is an overrated concept

Hell no. Just look at Clemons last year. He was coached up, produced and is now on the Steelers practice squad. If Hackins still coached last year I highly doubt he's collecting a paycheck from Pittsburgh now.
 
I think if this were true you would see a lot more young players starting in the big time programs. You would also see a lot more players leaving early for the draft. This may be true in college basketball but not football.

Umm, you do realize that AAU bball has a strong correlation with top talent, right? Lots of player development happens at an early age now than it did in the past. If anything bball requires more skill development than football.

Sure. I was talking about developing skill at the college level and not in high school. We agree on this but you just dont realize it...
