Ranting to the people who can actually make a difference is more meaningful then ranting on here. I would suggest that these messages not be some broad narrative about how you're dissapointed with the state of CU football. The message should be consistent: Fire Embree.

Flood them with messages, especially Bohn since he has the most direct means of communication.

Here was my email to Bohn. Tried not to get to long winded:
I know these are difficult times in Boulder. I got my Ph.D. at CU in 2001 but have been a buffs fan since 1990. I am actually a big supporter of your work at CU and although some try to pin the Football teams failings on you, I recognize that is placing blame largely on the wrong shoulders.

But I implore you to make a move soon because this season has turned into a tragedy for alumni and is going to make your goals of facilities enhancements and fielding a competitive team even worse. The whole alumni base is in a state of funk and clearly not in the mood to be asked for donations.

However if you were to make a bold move, SOON, even if we lose the rest of the way this season, you will have our support and our $. I was actually in favour of the choice to hire Embree, EB and crew but I now realize that was a mistake. Please rectify this soon so we can visualize a better future and open up our wallets to help you achieve the vision you have for the university and the football team.

Get yourself prepared for a canned response ... somethings along the lines of

"I appreciate your candid note. I share your frustration, we will not knee jerk or make statements for the sake of talking. We are focused on improvement on all fronts everyday!"

or

"Thank you for your candid note and passion for the program. I share your frustration and we will work to ensure our messaging and execution is communicated. MB"

I don't expect a customized email response-dude must be getting bombarded with 1k mails/day. I just want to be one of them who is trying to do their part. Maybe if he gets umpteen more he will feel enough pressure to pull the trigger.

I appreciate your e-mail. If he's getting bombarded with e-mails it can't hurt.
Let us know if you get either response as those are real ones people have received.

Does Benson have any clue what Twitter is?

Anyway, "Fire Embree" is the wrong message, that's the tail wagging the dog unless you want him replaced with someone equally cheap and inept.

Earlier I posted the email I sent to MB. Here is his response:
Thank you for your note and long standing support. Your points are well taken. We are working on both ends of the challenge. Coach owns the leadership with some new staff roles. We will see where it goes and support him in every way. Stay with us. MB

no they are not.

Here was my answer to him:

Thank you for a direct response. Many of us feel terrible but we are holding out hope that the situation improves. It is really, really difficult being a Buffs alum and FB fan at this point. I currently live in Argentina but am returning to Vancouver, Canada with my 8 year old son tomorrow and I was going to take him to his first ever CU Buffs game.

He has been excited b/c he knows how much I love the buffs. But I told him I don't think I can take him now because I just get too depressed watching them get creamed and that would not be a fun father-son weekend and that instead I will take him to the Oregon game. The innocence of an 8 year old-he said but daddy, don't think that way, they may play better this time and maybe even win. I didn't have the heart to tell him the sad truth.

Surprisingly I got another answer from MB to my message from above.

Take him to the game and share your passion for being a fan, then find a great teaching moment to talk about!

What do you guys think? Should I take my son to a game I know we will get our butts kicked and look like a bunch of HSers or should I take him to the Oregon-AZ game which has 2 ranked opponents that actually play like BCS schools?

Don't take him to the Oregon AZ game. he may become a fan of the ducks. NOT GOOD.

Also, if you go to the WSU game, there will be some fine young men from CU to provide good examples for your son :smile2:

Write Bohn back and say: "Great idea on finding a teaching moment to talk about. While i'm watching us get our ass kicked by a bad WSU team I can demonstrate to my son the dangers and repercussions of a person delegating an assingment to an individual who is completely unqualified for that job."

That's a good one.

****, I hope my email to DiStefano didn't go to some poor freshman wondering why I'm tearing him a new asshole. Let's just say I didn't do "Chancellor@Colorado.edu"...

I wouldn't take advice on how to raise my kids from a car salesman. You'd be nuts to take him to Pullman.

Go to Wazzou. Book a room in Spokane at the team hotel.

The number of Buff fans will be few. Access to influential people could be really good.

It's better to say things face to face to people inside the program than through the less than personal unsolicited e-mails.

Nice range of opinions on this one. I am still on the fence. If the Buffs were even acceptable this year it wouldn't even be a consideration. But with how crappy they are, and the fact that I live in Argentina, I don't get a chance to see quality football live ever (except the soccer variety of course).

So this is my one chance this year to see a live CFB game and it is with my son, so the chance to take him to a real game-between 2 BCS teams that are both ranked in a rocking stadium (I already took him to a Boca Juniors game this year) is appealing in light of the option.

Things that make you go hmmm...

I can't take it anymore. I'm going negative on Bohn. I don't expect a response, but here is the email I sent him:

You're half the problem with our football team. You hired Hawkins without doing any research(EVERY fan in Boise knew Petersen was the man, NOT Hawkins). You hired an unqualified coach in Embree. I'm wondering what your qualifications for the job are other than running a bad AD at San Diego St. and Idaho? Unless you quit we are screwed. You will hire another lame duck coach. Mike you need to quit if you have any respect for this school. I've seen your overall record when hiring coaches and it's NOT pretty. You need to be fundraiser and that's IT! Please just step down because you can't run an Athletic Department to save your life. You're a loser Mike.

That was pretty harsh DenverBuff77.

That's the point. I'm tired of being nice. I got run off the Daily Camera last year for politely saying Embree was a bad hire and it didn't do any good. I'm sick and tired of losing. Flat out tired. The 70-3 Texas game seems like it was in another life. I'm gonna keep sending nasty emails to everyone in the administration. I don't care what anyone thinks. If this was a team in the south they would be getting death threats from fans. I stopped my season tickets when Bohn gave hired Embree, so I don't have any other way to make an impact. IMO we need to step up our level of vitriol as it's a good way to get any change. I would be willing to lead a rally outside of the stadium with Fire Benson, Fire Bohn signs if anyone else is game. We have to do SOMETHING...
