Some Fantastic OL stats from the FSU game

Those are, by far, the worst statistics I've ever seen for an OL. The backups are beyond bad. 80% is considered bad. and since the best game for every single starter was CSU ... they've been getting WORSE. Something is very rotten here. What the hell has Marshall been doing?

Thanks for the link, too. Our 4th Down Efficiency is great - we're at 60% - making 3-of-5 4th Down attempts. Think about this as a great coaching decision - Embree & Co does this in great on-field situations, and Embree & Co call the right plays. Three plays this seeason - and clearly, 60% is "most of the time".

This says a lot about our O-Line skills, too. On 3 plays this season, we out-perform, out-execute and out-coach the opposition.

The Defense is equally great - they've stuffed the opponents 2-of-3 4th Down Attempts, allowing them to only make one 4th Down successfully. This should get us "Most Of The Time" kudos, too! Out-playing and out-coaching! "Bring on 4th Down!"

Also for our O-Line, notice the GOAL-TO-GO stat - we've had 5 situations, scoring 4 TDs. Of course, the Defense hasn't fared quite as well, giving up 5 Goal-to-Go situations and 5 TDs.

It's sort of like making every opposing pitcher look like Cy Young winners. Then, considering their loss of 20 schollies, too, preventing them from suiting up more than 65.

On the last page of the link (thanks, Darth), there's an Average Starting Field Position that has us matched with opponents - on average, we're starting at our 29, and opponents are starting at their 29.

And both have had 4 possessions start in Plus territory. We turned two of those possessions into a TD and an FG, while opponents turned 3 of theirs into TDs (and a missed extra point, so they only outscored us 20-10 total points).

On less wonderful news, I see that for the DRIVES STARTED INSIDE/AT OWN 20, we've forced opponents to start in this backs-to-the-wall position 17 times but then allowed them to score on 10 of those drives. A bit more than half the time - probably not a big feather in the Defense's cap. On the O-side, we've driven the length of the field once to score a TD.

They drive 10-out-of-17 times and score. We drive 1-out-of-11. Hmmm...

(EDIT: apparently, I can't trust my fingers to even type "FG" without a typo... just washed 'em, though... what can I say?)

There isn't even a glimmer of domination in those stats. Marshall is most directly accountable.

There are glimmers of matching our first three opponents (please, no comment about our Olympian-calibre opponents, OK?)

We're close to matching opponents' 3rd Down Efficiency. Embree's got us working at 32.6%, and he's only allowing 35.9%. Not that far off.

We have 204 offensive plays, just like our opponents do. Perfectly matched. We've got 107 rushing plays, while opponents only have 117 - which means we have 10 more passing plays therefore! Whoo hoo...

Embree's had our team only lose 2 fumbles, just like our opponents. And in a way, someone can point to our 7 fumbles as meaning we're far better at recovering 5 than our opponents are (who've only fumbled 4 times).

For Dominating Defense, CU's been able to post 20 tackles for losses, while Opponents have only made 19 for loss against CU. Of course, there's a different in yardage-loss, but let's not nitpick...

And we have 2 blocked kicks, while Embree's never let our kickers give up any. REAL domination!!

Look at the Longest Play stats... we've already racked up one 64-yard TD run by Christian Powell (64 yards out of his season total 199 yards), and we've only given up 4 plays that are 50-yards or more. Well, that's probably not a useful stat.

ON THE LAST PAGE - "Yards Gained Analysis"... look at our 3rd Down domination. We've got 46 3rd Down plays while opponents have far less - 39. And we dominate in yards-gained, too - 198 to 158.

Of course, it's best to ignore how First and Second Down numbers show up.

At least Embree is really focusing on 3rd Down plays.

Red Zone Scoring is pretty good. Embree's had the juggernaut rolling 9 times into the Red Zone and scored on 8 of those.

And, OK, opponents have done that 11-of-11, but CU and opponents are matched in 7-TDs-each on those trips. Someone can point out that means our Defense buckles down and holds them to 4 FGs - we've only been halted for 1 FG.
