2015 WBB Recruit Profile Index

Just added 7 new names to the list thanks to the HoopGurlz article from yesterday.

Boy is there a dearth of news on the women's basketball recruiting front these days. It seems HoopGurlz is down and the Daily Camera isn't doing any investigation.

Hard to believe that there weren't any women's basketball recruits on campus this past weekend and it would seem there would be more this coming weekend.

I did a bit of research, but the only info I could find was on Kelsey Lang and CU wasn't on her list.

It is hard to believe that there is no recruiting news on the women's side. I decided to dig a little and found three names that reported have offers from CU.

Breanna Brown, 6'3 P, Bishop O'Dowd, Oakland Cal
Brianna Ruiz, 5'11" G, Del Oro, Loomis CA
Dejza James, 6'0" F, Pleasant Grove, Elk Grove CA
possibly Natalie Romeo, 5'7" PG, Carondelet, Concord CA

Looks like Coach Lappe is tapping into the Cal Sparks NORCAL Club

Also, there may be a Minnesota player or two they tried (are presently trying) to recruit.

Verbal?

Brian Howell has responded to a tweet of mine saying he believes CU has verbal commitment but he doesn't know who it is.

That'd be awesome news. We need to get some momentum going on the women's side.

I have been watching verbals all summer and fall from several recruiting people on Twitter. None for Colorado to date unless I totally missed them. Only thing I got was a response from CU women's basketball can't discuss or release recruits until they are signed. I'd take some "good" rumors at this point.

I feel your pain.

I feel the same way Buffgal. It has been a frustrating summer to be a CU fan. I never understood this veil of secrecy that seems to surround the women’s basketball team. If we were talking about men’s bb, we would have film of the guys on CU’s radar; their interest level in CU; the date of upcoming official visits – but we can’t even get a name of possible bb players that CU is trying to recruit.

It is possible to generate excitement for the upcoming season and the future of CU women’s basketball. Take a look at the website. Be forewarned!!! It is a husker site.

I don’t want to ruffle any Buffalo fur, but I am a little envious the type of info they can access.

I to am frustrated. One of the things that's hurt our ability to track CU recruits is the demise of HoopGurlz. It was basically a free source of info or at least a starting point.

What it would take for us to get info would be for the daily Camera or one of the sites dedicated to CU to do some research on WBBall recruiting. I doubt this will happen unless the team gets into the top 25. I suppose another option would be for an individual on this board to start digging.

The reason that there is so much info on the recruits for the men's team is the amount of interest in the men's game and thus there are all kinds of videos, etc.

Neither the men's nor women's coaching staffs can discuss a player until they've signed a letter of intent per NCAA rules.

Here is a website that may help alleviate your HoopGurlz fix. It focuses on the top recruits, but it also lists official visits for the upcoming weekend with commitments. Let me know what you think.

To Goose or Buffnik, Kelsey Lang committed to Texas, and it sounds like we didn't make the final three for Courtney Range or Brianna Ruiz.

I wonder if CU is looking at foreign players since their top targets have already committed to other schools.

Here's a rumor for you and others. I may or may not have seen Coach Lappe on a plane headed to Vancouver to see a girl on Canadian's women's team. Of course, she was not willing to mention any names, but I think good ole' Google will help out here.

Coach Lappe is a really cool person from the brief flight sitting next to her.

I saw on Brian Howell's twitter that he told someone that he expects for Lappe to bring in 5 players in this year's class. Could be a big one for us.

Thatwasmejpm he was telling, which is me! I do know Lappe and the new coach have been to Washington, DC.

Brian and I tweet a lot during games since I'm in Iowa.

Reading a tweet from Lappe it seems there will be a number of recruits on campus this weekend. She doesn't state it outright, but it's implied.

Lappe stated earlier that they could sign up to five players this recruiting cycle.

Watts seems like the type of post player the Buffs need, but it also it looks like she has a way to go in terms of offensive skills and fitness.

Lappe tweeted today that it was a great weekend with the team and future Buffs this weekend. Hoping she got some verbal commits.

New recruit to add to the list. Haley Smith, 6'0", guard out of WA. Looks like she is taking an official visit to CU this weekend.

Good call. And judging from this tweet from fellow Washington native Kelli Kingma... Smith committed to CU.

So beyond proud of @HaleySmith_22 for committing to Colorado! Sweetest, funniest, and best teammate ever. Love you so much #superstar

HoopGurlz has Smith as a four-star wing.

With the two commitment's we've landed now, we've filled MMP & Chucky's scholarships. That still leaves us with 3 more to go. I'd love for us to land another post player and a PG, but it'll be interesting to see what we go with.

The good news is that I'm going to yet another damn wedding this weekend, so I'll be in Dallas Saturday & Sunday, so we should have news then.

There were a couple of tweets last night about Desiree Harris of Oakland committing to the Buffs. One from her school's account, and then a retweet from Chris Roemer of Collegiate Girls Basketball report. They write:

SJND's Desiree Harris'13 has verbally committed to play basketball for the University of Colorado, a PAC-12 program.Congratulations!

Twitter is obviously not the most reliable source, but it seems like this could be legit since the school's website links to this same Twitter account.

HoopGurlz (RIP) has her as 5'8" guard, and gives her two stars and a score of 75. For whatever that's worth at this point.
