Volleyball vs. Cal on P12 Digital right now

The announcers mention it every now and then, but there are no graphics.

We're down 17-19 in the 2nd.

Cal owned the Buffs in the 4th set. 11-25

Coming down to the 5th set now.

Buffs lose.

Cal dominated the 5th set 8-15.

Damn.

Let one slip away tonight.

Completely blew that tonight. Lost all momentum in the 4th set and never rebounded.

Have to agree with 14er. I got concerned when there was a bunch of celebrating going on as the teams changed ends of the court after the Buffs won the third game. I commented then that they needed to remember the match wasn't over; that they still had to win another game. And for games 4 and 5, it was Cal that had the energy and focus to pull out the win. The Buffs looked flat...no energy in their play. Way too many bad passes that either were overpasses, giving Cal easy kills or the passes were so close to the net that the Buffs setter wasn't able to do much with the ball and the hitter's ended up sitting ducks for the Cal block. The first 3 games were for the most part really well played by the Buffs .... so we know the team can compete with at least the mid level PAC-12 teams. Now they need to keep it up for an entire conference match.

Gotta figure buffs may be able to compete with Nebraska for some top female recruits. I haven't looked at the breakdown of where their players are from but girls would have to get more excited about playing around the west coast where vball is more popular and the destinations are ll a lot nicer....

Maybe but I doubt it, at least not yet. At Nebraska, VB players are BWOC. They have played for years in front of sold out crowds. This season they have taken the former basketball arena and modified it for volleyball, enlarging the capacity significantly and still was sold out in no time at all. Volleyball is a HUGE sport in Nebraska. Add to that the fact that the Huskers have won several NCAA VB championships and continue to be a top ranked team year in and year out and its a tough combination to beat out for recruits. I think the Buffs still need to get a lot better in the results column and in the attendance figures at their home matches before they can start to compete head to head with Nebraska for recruits.

Yeah, I think them and Hawaii always have huge crowds
