Wonder how much of that is being spent in Boulder? The 7m for the scoreboards? Wake the **** up before it´s too late. Again.

We fall farther and farther behind. Maybe Larry will put pressure on CU to get it's act together.

Was this a twitter? Does Matt know how to make some sort of bot that can constantly send this to Benson via email, twitter, facebook, etc.? Maybe a fax machine blitz would be most appropriate. Fax him this and a few vacation deals.

Colorado is so far behind even if they spent a couple hundred million it might not be enough....that might just get them to where they should have been already.

Screw it. I'm writing Benson and asking if he can divert that Pac12 network money into the physics department.

Ouch. Boulder/CU is just SOOOOOOOO much more difficult than any other University in the nation to deal with:rolling_eyes:

Sort of beating a dead horse - but why do we still have the worst PA audio system of any stadium on the planet? Didn't they supposedly upgrade it a number of years back?

Have we heard of surround sound before?

Benson's telegraph is silent.

Hopefully we'll be bumping that up to $1.25B here in the spring...

Umm, no. The spring is the announcement, not the start of construction. Right? Then you have to put out RFPs, wait for and analyze responses, select construction companies, complete detailed plans, get whatever regulatory things in place, and only then start construction. Or are they doing all that prep work now?

No it sounds like the construction will start very soon after the announcement. Bohn is getting everything ready before he announces it.

Seems like CU could add more varsity sports. No tennis, swimming, baseball, etc.?
How about we focus on getting football to not be a national embarrassment before we think about adding more sports and keep Title IX balanced

I really hope you are right.
But....
I remember your optimism seven months ago that indicated, through your insider contacts with Bohn, that the recycling facility would be bulldozed in 2012, and that the project would complete by 2014 or 2015.

Here is my expectation of how this will go down:
- The consultants are selected to refresh the plans.
- The winning consultant offers a rendering of plans and associated capital costs
- The plan is previewed with the Regents and Benson with an assessment of financial contribution available from large donors, small donors, and borrowing against AD proceeds, naming rights, ect.
- An agenda item is placed on a Board of Regents meeting to brief regents.
- A public phase allows for comments from interested parties.
- The university response to community concerns (key of which involves abundant pledges not to use student fees in the event of revenue shortfalls from private sources)
- A construction plan is bid and a timetable is published on the CU website that includes projects relating to all construction on campus.

It is hard for me to believe any of the above steps would be bypassed.

From experience, I expect CU to be hyper-conservative. They are prone to lay out a $250M view with all the bells and whistles, then agree on a more modest $99M plan that includes provisions for expansion at some ambigious point down the road.

Well...I have been told that it will be the $225-$250M option and everything will be lined up prior to the announcement with construction being soon after by an AD employee. None of the steps are being bypassed but most are going to be done under the radar. If they were going with the cheaper option we likely would have had an announcement IMO.

Unless you like being jerked around, its best to hold off getting excited until the project is itemized on the facilities site.

I really, really doubt this employee would be jerking me around with this

Oh, you've been jerked around with, alright. You've been jerked around last February, when we got wind of the plans being discussed, then the leak of the architectural model, then in the spring when Bohn mentioned a "transformational" plan that would be announced in September. Then in June at a BOR meeting in the Springs, DiStephano indicated he was more conservative than Mike. And then we got $7M scoreboards, but without a sound system upgrade. And then we hear in September that it's not a facilities announcement, but an announcement of an announcement. Here we are in October with Benson indicating he never hears complaints about the football situation, DiStephano is being silent when he's not being a wet blanket, and Mike Bohn under a gag order from his bossess, who are publically indifferent to the success of the program.

Sorry for my skeptism, but when top secret annonomous AD staffers are leaking information to pot smoking video game playing undergrads to communicate optimism about nine figure capital projects, you might expect a little blowback.

nothing going to happen till CU starts winning again on a regular basis...sometimes the cart does have to go in the front of the buffalo
