It can't get any worse

and I'm not being sarcastic. The problem is I don't see any signs of it getting better.

I am afraid we may be digging a hole we can't get out of. When Hawkins got fired I thought the next hire would be a crucial one for CU because the program could gather a little momentum with the switch to the Pac 12 and rebound or it could fall off a cliff. With the disparity in facilities and the lack of competitiveness on the field, I can easily envision a decade in obscurity.

If something doesn't change, Bohn should start scheduling home and home's with the likes of Indiana, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Iowa State, and Virginia to determine the most irrelevant BCS football program of the decade.

You're wrong in saying it can't get worse....it can and already is with each game

As the fan base continues to grow more apathetic and leadership continues to show no vision or commitment to turn this around it will continue to get much much worse.....imagine Folsom as empty as Hughes, Never being on ESPN, Albuffs football forum a ghost town, etc.

They could just run out of the tunnel, sit down in the endzone, and **** themselves in the literal rather than figurative sense. That would probably be below rock bottom. I pray it never gets that far.

All six of the teams CU played in the first half of the season had losing records in 2011.
Five of the six teams CU played in the first half of the season had new coaching staffs.
Five of the next six teams CU plays had winning records in 2011.
The combined record of the next three teams CU plays is 14-2.

Yes, I can actually see it getting worse ...

I sense that it's about to get pretty ugly. Not ugly in the "throw stuff on the field and yell at the coaches & players" ugly, but ugly in a much more destructive way. Pretty soon, people will just stop coming to the games. It's getting too painful to endure.

Imagine?! I don't know where you were last night, but we're already as empty as Hughes! Feel bad that the band has to stick around to play for the visiting fans. And, we have no business on any TV channel right now, incuding PBS!

Just over 45k for a black out primetime game. People have stopped coming to the game. the games in November will average 40k or less.

Very likely true. Figure this - CU plays USC and Oregon before coming home to play Stanford. We're going to be 1-7 when Stanford rolls into town, with absolutly zero hope of victory in that game. Our best chance at a crowd of over 40K will be against Washington, and that assumes we can find a way to beat Arizona on the road the previous week. Lose to UA, and we're looking at Fairbanks era type crowds.

ISU, UVA, Minnesota and Indiana are showing serious signs of life and, at the very least, are clearly improving. We are in far worse shape right now

The game after thanksgiving I'm guessing only 30K without the students and no Nebraska to buy up 20K tix

Good. Stick it to the University. The cost of the lost ticket/concession revenue will easily add up to buy outs for Embree/EB. Especially when you add it up for what they will see next year if they are retained. It is a simple cost calculation, and it is time to cut our losses and reinvest some real capital in a coaching staff.

I agree that the attendance can and will get worse, I was referring to the on-filed performance. The rest of the games are going to look a lot like last night with the exception that the 30+ point lead will be built by half and they will start taking a knee about the start of the 4th quarter.

The difference between 1-11 and 0-12 is cosmetic.

There are so many scenarios of things getting worse. "What's worse than a 35-point First Quarter game?" Two. Three. Four.

A 42-point First Quarter game. Or two. Or several 35-point quarters in the same game. Of course, this didn't occur in the apparently forgotten 70-3 game which I remember, but "70-3" could still have a Worse successor.

The number of first-year coaches that have utilized their available talent is so much greater than our 2nd year staff's using THIS squad's abilities.

I have been discounting any need for Oregon to run the score up on Embree's product this year. "They're #2 already - just win out comfortably, and they're in!" But what if an undefeated SEC champion and an undefeated everyone-bows-to-Notre-Dame emerge? Oregon may see a need to surpass little Fresno's win margin - just for the computer ratings.

USC likely needs to create a startling and positive headline for their voters.

We are soon facing more teams that have reasons to create a big scoreboard splash. I didn't think so a few weeks ago, but now... I can imagine it getting worse. Much worse.

Cue ominous music while reading this message...especially at the end.

More than a decade of neglect and this is what you get. Textbook method of killing your core asset.

It is going to get worse a lot worse. Oregon will hang 100 on us, Stanford will leave half our team on the injured list, and Washington will trounce us too. Good lord what a mess. Embree must be shown the door.

Right now, I'm convinced that UO will put up 80 points on us. The only thing keeping them from putting up 100 will be their own sense of pity.

They will get up by 40-50 and take the foot off the pedal, just like last year.

The mantra is CU doesn't have enough talent or playmakers. Okay, recruit better talent and playmakers. Problem is, they don't want to come to a program that averages 3 wins per year for 7 years.

So, you have to scheme and coach them up, our coaches look lost.

We have freshman and sophmores that show promise then look worse their junior and senior years? How is that?

Our supposed lights out recruiters aren't getting it done. So basically, CU is screwed.

Oregon has been taking their foot off the gas this year once they are up by 35 so i have a hard time imagining chip trying for 100. I would be willing to bet that usc wont be so kind and they might try to break the score board.

I really hope they show no pitty. We are once again where we were 2 years ago...we need another kansas type melt down to get this staff out of here... I truly hope they break the college football record of points scored to include usc and stanford also

The 1916 Cumberland vs. Georgia Tech football game was an American football game played on October 7, 1916, between the Georgia Tech Engineers and Cumberland College Bulldogs at Grant Field (now known as Bobby Dodd Stadium) in Atlanta, Georgia. The game became the most lopsided in the history of college football, as Georgia Tech was victorious 222–0.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP][SUP][3][/SUP]

How the **** did they manage 222 points? We beat a team 112-0 in high school and we had to score a td about once a minute.

I've been singing this tune for 3-4 years now. "Well, it can't get any worse."

And then it always does. I don't think we've bottomed out yet. Still in a death spiral.

I became a hardcore fan after moving back from England in 1994. With the exception of 2001, virtually every year has gotten worse for me. Almost straight downhill.

The healing process can begin when the university gets new leadership.

As crazy as it sounds, I think the basketball teams' success is hurting the football team. Benson & Distephano look at what Tad Boyle has accomplished and think it's easy to find a winner. Thing is, they went through 6 different coaches between Sox Walseth and Tad Boyle. In that time, CU basketball went from being a nationally respected program to being a complete disaster. The admin thinks that they can just go find another Tad Boyle for the football team. They don't realize how incredibly lucky they are to have found Boyle, and for him to have really, really wanted to come here. There's nobody like that in football. There isn't a great up and coming coach that has always wanted to coach here. That guy doesn't exist, yet this administration is hanging it's collective hat on hiring that guy.
