No Talent?

Okay, with Kasa on the Mackey list and Uzo being noticed by Mel Keiper, can those posters who say we have no talent stop with the bull****?

It's not talent that will beat USC or Oregon, but it's good enough...young, but good enough to beat the teams we've played...

Talent to beat CSU and Ball Sac State? Sure. Talent to beat ASU or UCLA? Not even close.

Lol Mel Kiper Jr. When did people take him seriously?

I was wondering if this was sarcasm or if you are actually serious. If you are serious .....:lol3:

3 players out of 85 scholarship athletes?

What is that???? 3.5%!!!!

You know what, I change my mind.....

Have you ever loked at the watch lists? They are pretty lengthy. I recall getting a fair amount of grief when I observed Keenan Stevens inclusion on the Rimington list didn't mean much before the 2010 season, especially in light of his play. I got some grief and let it go. But we all saw what happened there, he did not even finish the season as the starter.

Of course, it is good to be on a watch list, I think Kasa has some serious potential, but let's not anoint him the second coming of Kellen Winslow and suggest the team suddenly is loaded.

Talent to not get rolled by ASU and UCLA at home? Definitely.

I think we're missing senior leadership more than we're missing talent. We don't have guys who can say "This is what it takes" with any credibility.

ya well Hofstra put a WR in the NFL. I do agree thar we have talent to beat everbody on our schedule except sc and oregon if we had Bill Snyder coaching this team

Except for the fact that the freshmen at ASU and UCLA are much better.

John Elway never played on a winning team at Stanford. It takes more than one or two talented players to make a difference....not to mention a quality coaching staff and an administration that cares about winning.

Isn't Kasa part of the mid-season list? Cubuffs.com says they cut it down to 26 players at this point. That's pretty good considering it's his first year.

^^^I am not saying it isn't a good thing. I think Kasa has found his position and it may carry him to the next level. The guy is good and is getting better every week. But even a mid-season update to the Mackey list names, as you point out, 20 some odd guys. I would rather have a player on the list than not, but a list of the top 25 TE's in the nation reaches pretty far if you know what I mean.

Yeah, it does... hopefully he continues improving and ends up there at the end of the year. With how bad our team is this year, I take more joy in good individual performances.

Losing by 7 vs losing by 40 multiple times in one season is a difference. Not in the W/L column, but in the perception of the health of the program.

I agree with Nik that we have enough talent to not get blow out so much. Early in the season I feel like we were lacking leaders, now the leadership is a little better so what's hurting us most is a lack of game day coaching talent.

This.
We have a serious lack of speedy playmakers on offense.
We got a lot of inexperience playing key positions on defense.

But getting rolled by FSU is unexplainable. leadership at all levels

Or getting rolled 0-31 after going in down three at te half

Talent is an issue, but not the biggest thing. A halfway decent coach would have this team with a winning record, hell a bad coach like Dan Hawkins would probably have this team at 3 wins right now. Our biggest problem is this staff.

^^^This. I have a hard time believeing any decent staff could not have three W's in the bag given the schedule. I could see how someone could go ofer in the P12 after the WSU game, but the CSU, Sac. St. Fresno St. debacles really showed this staff for what it is.

It doesn't take much talent to be a 6-6 team. Imagine if we had decent coaching the last half decade.

Please stop. The coaching is bad but this is the worst Pac 12 team in terms of talent.

I agree. I know new mexico doesnt play a real tough schedule but they only have 60 players on scholly and are 4-3. they only lost to boise by 3 and they beat hawaii and new mexico st. the buffs couldnt beat sac st and new mexico st rolled them for the only victory they have this year. Maybe the coaches should look in the mirror and see if they can make changes to simplify the game plan for the young players. Im sure we would have more wins with davie as head coach.
