As was in the Olympic Sports preview for the weekend ....

Volleyball
The Buffs will host the Arizona schools in what is their best opportunity all season for a weekend sweep.
On Friday, the Buffs (2-4, 12-6) will face off against Arizona St (2-4, 13-6) at 7pm live streaming on Pac-12.com

Then on Sunday, CU will go head to head with Arizona (1-5, 9-8) at 5pm on PAC 12 network.

Well, by fighting hard and with the support of the large and loud crowd on Friday night, the Buffs upset ASU and are now looking to sweep the weekends matches by winning against UA today. Hopefully those of you who saw the VB team on Friday and enjoyed the level of play, the fight and intensity, and of course, the win, will come out again today to help cheer on the Buffs to another Pac-12 upset victory. CU there!!!!!!!

Going to try to get the fan there for at least the first hour.

I watched the Friday match online. The team seemed to get more and more energized as more people arrived.

Will be watching and cheering from the rainy Midwest.

I was watching online too and thinking the same thing which worked out great since it went to 5 sets.

Well, that was disappointing....
So many errors : hitting errors, serve errors, defensive errors, more serve errors. Buffs gave this one to Arizona. I had hopes after they fought back and won the third game but they couldn't keep up a good level of play in the fourth game. So many service errors in game four!

Seemed like their legs were dead today. All those service errors, not getting blocks, getting blocked a lot. Team looked tired.

Like I was saying in the other thread, there are only so many opportunities against teams like these. Now they get to travel to LA to face #6 USC and #7 UCLA.

Kritza is in year 4 already? Hot seat?
Highly doubt it.

Because of player turn-over between years 1 and 2, she basically had to start from scratch in year 2 (she even had picked up a player from the CU club team that year to try to field a team). And recruiting happens earlier and earlier recently with relationships established way early in the high school years and many good players verballing in their junior year (and some even earlier). So she and her staff were starting out from behind there too. So they brought in a mix of transfers and "projects" to try to bolster the team 2 years ago. This years freshman class is excellent and the recruits who have verballed for 2013, while not of the caliber of this years freshmen, are also pretty decent sounding. The team is definitely getting better.

Had CU not moved to the PAC last season, I think the VB team would have been a middle-of-the-conference team in the Big 12. The move to the PAC upped the level of competition significantly for the team. As of today, 5 of the top 10 teams in the VB coaches poll are from the PAC and only 1 (2 if you add Nebraska back in) are from the Big 12. Right now CU is battling for supremacy in the bottom half of the PAC. If they can do that, they will have made big strides. Then the next target is the big jump to the top half.

I agree with your analysis of the Kritzka situation, BeBe. So many of the Aiu players did not want to play for a real coach, that they quit.

CU would be doing okay if they were still in the Big 12 instead of being the cellar dweller except when they'd upset Nebraska.

With the Pac 12 having 5 schools ranked in the top 10, Kritzka has a tough road to travel, especially after losing her best player to injury.
