Gameplan against the Ducks

Is there any reason not to go for it on litterally every 4th down, do an oniside kick everytime we kick off, go for two (if) we score, and just generally have an aggresive gameplan with a ton of trick plays, shots down field, blitzing, etc. Oregon is going to score everytime they get the ball. We should do everything we can to limit their possesions and increace the amount of points that we can score. It's not like we will win the game regardless, but at least go down with a fight. What do we have to lose anyways.

I'd do the opposite. Run every single down, while taking the play clock down to 1 before every snap, and hope that you are able to limit the Ducks possessions and make it impossible for them to score 100.

There is only one plan: Possess the rock as long as you can and, along the way, don't turn it over. When on defense, pray.

we need players to switch jersies during the game. It worked pretty well for USC

For all practical purposes the game is over at kickoff, but eating up a ton of clock will help mitigate the disaster.

Bienemy has ADD...he can't focus long enough to keep running it, even when we're down. I can see it now...we're down by 14 fast then he abandons the run and now we are playing Oregon's game. I'm guessing this happens about 10 minutes into the first quarter.

Well, his mentality has to be that we can win. And he has to coach that way. Not just keep it respectable. At least to a point.

I think a good coach would approach it in this way. I think he would set realistic and very specific technical/execution-type goals. Forget the scoreboard and focus on the very small details of your job. Focus on what you can control.
Things like...Don't make this specific mistake. If one of their guys beats you "this way" because he's 10x faster than you, fine, but don't let him beat you "this way" by not takign care of the fundamentals. Don't miss a tackle where you're in a position to tackle and wrap up. Don't drop any passes. Don't make bad decisions. Limit mistakes to near zero. You can grade those things out and come away with positives from a loss, even a big loss.

Didn't you post this same exact message last year for the Oregon game?

So we're coaching like a High School team now?

seems to work for this guy...

You gotta limit possessions. Even if you're going three and out every time, you've got to hold on to the ball as much as possible. Run the ball, throw high percentage passes, and keep the clock moving. When they've got the ball, try as much as possible to limit the big play. Make them at least work their way down the field, even if they run 8- or 9- play drives that still only take 2 minutes.

You can't turn the ball over, and you can't throw three incomplete passes and punt. That's the only way to keep it somewhat respectable and not lose in record-setting fashion.

Agreed. Do you wanna be OC?

How long do you guys think it will take them to score their first touchdown? I think less than a minute if they get the ball first and less than two minutes if we receive.

This might be one of the best posts in the last few weeks. Rep sent.

I would actually be happy if this is what we got on the field this Saturday.

Barney just on 102.3 said if he was coaching he would go 3 TE's and run it every play. Why not?

Best thing we can do is confuse the Ducks. If we recieve the opening kick off Mosley needs to run a few steps stop and and throw a pass down field to a wide open Line backer. After the TD gets called back for illegal forward pass on a kick off we can put Webb back in the shotgun and punt on 1st down. The Ducks won't know what the hell is going on and won't be able to stop laughing. This will cause the Ducks to lose focus and thus we will be able to beat the spread.

TE's? Hell, I think our TE's are faster than most of our WR's... split out the TE's and have them go kill people on the outside..

or just don't even play them and instead go all OL. **** it.

not a bad idea...all OL and hike the ball to Thomas in the wildkat and play rugby

Now you're thinking, forget even using a QB.

this is an awesome idea, so much we can do.

We could run out on the field with our helmets on sideways and all the guys looking out of their earholes.
I know this has been done in the past, but it worked well last time: have all the guys leapfrog each other after an offensive play.
Have the entire team in a huddle in the backfield, take the 5 yard penalty and then fire the ball the Oregon sideline on the next play.
