Anyone see this injury? Yikes! No chance that guy plays again. Can only imagine how much $$ that will cost him. He was supposed to be a first rounder right? Gruesome!

Yeah those can lead to amputation if not treated quickly. Who was the guy on the Raiders about 10 years ago that did this. FB broke it agaisnt the 9ers. I heard if they didnt get to him right away he would have lost the leg from the knee down.

Napoleon McCallum................he almost had his leg amputated from that injury. He said that the calf muscle completely ripped away from the bone. Makes me cringe just typing it. I watched that one live and now this one live with Lattimore. Feel terrible for the kid, he's a good kid and a great player. Hate to see him go out like this, but there has to be a less than 1% chance he makes it back.
 
Saw it live on tv and that is one of those injuries that really turns the stomach. I did not watch it again as it is a horrible thing to see. I hope he gets full use out of the leg in the future.
 
On one of the views you see him grab the leg and you're looking straight at him and a trainer comes up and moves the leg and it looks like it "pops" back into place or something because he started moving his foot some. Just hope it's a dislocation with minimal damage for the kid. If he has serious enough damage he has to worry about even keeping that leg.

I was reading the posts to see if anyone had brought him up. That play goes down with Theisman and Carton Fisk as the worst I've ever seen. The one today was close.
 
The NCAA should not only allow, but provide an insurance policty for guys clearly headed for the league. It might be hard to quantify values, you'd need to find a good and neutral arb. I think Lattimore should be provided a $10 million policy. To late obviously, unless his family had it in place...

This just sucks, hard.

I think the NCAA provides the insurance for these guys. I'd be shocked if he doesn't have it.

When did the NCAA start doing this? I'm pretty sure Prothro didn't have anything like this, otherwise he probably wouldn't be working as a bank teller right now

Yeah, he'll be done..........never mind the torn ligaments by themselves and how terrible that is. Those injuries by themselves are tough and the femur is a tough one as well. We had a great tight end, can't remember his name right now, but he broke his femur and never was the same tight end again. He was scared to death of breaking it again and wasn't the same. A running back with two messed up knees is a huge risk for anyone. Good luck to him the rest of his life and hope he does well.
