The Pac-12 now has six teams in the AP poll, but that pleasant detail omits that Oregon is now the conference's only top-10 team.Oregon remained No. 2 in both the AP and coaches poll, the latter counting in the BCS standings, which will be released this evening. The Ducks are expected to be fourth in the BCS standings, behind Alabama, Kansas State and Notre Dame. Those three beat ranked teams this weekend, while the Ducks were relegated to eviscerating woeful Colorado.

Those USC and Oregon State losses aren't going to help Oregon any down the road. It sucks that Oregon is likely going to be 4th in the polls because they're clearly one of the top 3, if not the second best team.

The Big 12 engineered their 10 team conference to give an inside path to the BCS championship.

If KState wins out, they could very well face Bama in the mNC. There is no CCG in the B12, and no double jeopardy against OU anyone else in their conference. Plus there is the lingering sting of Okie Light getting slighted last year by SEC mNC selection engineering.

Oregon, on the other hand, will have double jeopardy by having to face the south division champion.

If Oregon misses the BCS championship because some strenght of schedule arguement or because the slip in the CCG, then it would stand to reason that the addition of Colorado (and Utah) to the Pac12 would be lamented by ducks who feel cheated. 1) by adding 12 teams, Oregon has one more game against a formidable division champion. 2) its not Oregon's fault that Colorado weakened their strenght of schedule. 3) If CU didn't get an invite to the P12, then the Big12 might very well still have a CCG and CU would definately be an anchor on Kansas State's strength of schedule instead of Oregon's.

Oregon's problem with SOS isn't so much CU, it's more that the other top teams in the Pac like USC and Oregon State are faltering. Plus Oregon's non-conference schedule didn't help any. Not that KSU's was that great but at least they played 1 BCS school (Miami).
