I was listening to Mile High Sports this morning and Matt McChesney (who is one of the only former players to tell the truth) was saying there are some indications that Alfred Williams has said this is failed and needs to end (short version) He said this comes from another show host that was sitting at a function with Big Al. If this is true, an Matt said he asked Al via twitter with no response then why the hell doesnt he say something ? He sure as hell railed against Hawkins ( which was needed) It seems all the former players / media members with the exception of McChesney don't want to call out Embo, EB, Brown etc. I said this via twitter and it makes me sad but I am afraid it is 100% truth, The damage done is to much to overcome even with massive staff changes.

It more then likely is going to last another year, and I hope I am wrong, but I feel I am not, this is over, Embree is a dead man walking, and we are counting backwards to the day it happens.

If this season end like most of us think it will end, I'd expect more former players and insiders to speak up before and after the last game. I doubt most of them will say "Embree must go". Most will say things like "drastic changes need to be made".

This is sad. Embree is a class act and loves the program but he was clearly in over his head. I wish him the best and will always think well of him...unlike Pigeon.

Joel Klatt says nothing. He would go into all out rants everyday about Hawkins.

JK was totally pro-Embo...it is pretty obvious he will not say anything. He was right about Hawkins, Hawkins was a self-absorbed, arrogant, incompetent with one thing on his mind...playing his son. JK has been wrong about Embo. It would be nice if he had the sack to manup and admit it, but he won't.

I wish Embo had the sack to fire/demote Brown and EB...but he doesn't. Too nice a guy I guess...and we all know where nice guys finish...last in the PAC12...

Alfred & Joel are established media personalities who have close relationships to the current regime, and also used that media clout to actively lobby for the staff we have now. McChesney is not as well established a media personality, but has at least some relationship with Embree et al.

At the end of the day, the most criticism you're going to get out of Klatt, AW, and CJ is silence unless things are roughly the same as they are now in another year. They hitched their wagon to bringing everything back in house and are at least partially responsible for getting this staff put into place.

Unfortunately, even if the Buffs4Life crowd comes around after the Utah game and starts asking for change, it would too late in the offseason coaching carousel/recruiting scramble cycle to implement change. The AD needs to start working TODAY if they want to turn over the staff. There is a hiring process, it takes time, and you want to start doing this now so you can fire Embree on November 23rd and announce the new coach the same day/next day. If you allow for any lag time, you hurt the new coach's ability to pull a class together, but you also leave time for every former player, CU donor, media member etc. to have input as to who gets hired (we all know how well that turns out). If I'm Mike Bohn, I make a deal (using external contacts) with a new coach in November before I announce that Embree is fired. Once I announce that Embree is gone, I immediately announce who the new coach is.

Of course, doing the above would require the balls and dexterity not seen around here for some time.

How many football programs do you know who have fired a coach one day, and hired his replacement the next day?

Disagree on your timeline, Buffnut. Expecting a head coach or assistant coach to agree to terms by the end of the regular season is unrealistic. You are right that legwork needs to be done now, but having a new head coach the day after the season ends likely means a botched search.

Sadly true. I could see this playing out like this...

A few days after the Utah game, the AD announces that Jon is coming back in '13.
Over the course of the next 2 weeks, a negative reaction builds to the point that BB and PDS tell Bohn he is allowed to release Embree after all.
The intrview process begins, but Bohn is a at least a month+ behind the other BCS schools that are looking. He is also given a smaller budget ($1.5M max for the HC).
We eventually settle on some squeaky clean coordinator that the other BCS schools have passed on. Recrtuiting suffers.

There is one thing that we have not mentioned, with the available scholarships this year it would be the perfect time to pull the trigger. I think I heard we only have 13 or 14 to give, if true there would be a full class available next year which would result in another low calibur recruiting year by waiting. Numbers alone say now is the time if in fact we all whole heartedly believe this is fail. I was one of the masses that believed this was the right thing to do when it happened, so I dont say it with ease I was wrong.

He will, when the dust settles after running all these ex Buffs out of town, he (jk) will then take the credit

Worth noting Leach was not coaching at the time though. That makes a difference.

If only we could find a currently unemployed coach. Hmmmm, who might fit that description other than like Petrino, who I think it safe to assume we would not make a run at.

2 names leap to mind who are not currenly at coaching gigs: 1. Mark Mangino 2. Jim Leavitt. Of the two I would take Leavitt and pass on the Human Eclipse/Coronary in Waiting Mangino.

Unfortunately, Leavitt allegedly hit a football player. In the aftermath and investigation that followed, Leavitt apparently tried to get several other players, who witnessed the incident, to change their stories and/or lie about what had happened. Leavitt was subsequently fired.

Dishonesty is probably not something that is going to endear Mr. Leavitt to many athletic directors.

It would be like dogging on your uncle. If he does change his tone it definitely won't be very intense.

The AD should announce Embo is coming back, today. help with recruiting by off-setting the impact of you whiners. The constant ragging on the program does nothing but deter recruits and is an insult to current players. You people are all about what YOU want.

So Embree, et al. WANT to be 1-7. All the more reason to fire them.

Bruce? Phil? Mike? Is that you? I applaud you for calling out these "so called fans" that only want to see CU succeed on the field. Damn crappy fans, always thinking about what they want and not blindly accepting what you tell us we will get.

Best response of the day. Loved it!!!

We found the plant, cu2X. The 2X suggests that it is Phil because he is, after all, twice as big as he should be.

The record and results are what's speaking loudly. The national media and these hotseat websites aren't getting their cues from the message boards. Just making conclusions based on Embree's abysmal perfomances.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. You have found the AD plant. And with the obligatory "Go Buffs" at the end of the post, I'm betting it is Mike or somebody in his office that is used to typing that for him.

I'd feel better if I knew the staff was the only problem. It seems to be much more. Any new staff is gonna have their hands full imho.

I concur, looks like cu2x is a plant. I am sure what I and other random posters say on AB is more persuasive than 1-7 with massive buttkickings by national powers like Fresno, oops, did I say Fresno, I meant Oregon.

I understand the only candidate Benson would consider is Bud Wilkinson and maybe Red Blaik.
