Only the Soccer and Volleyball teams are in action this weekend.
Volleyball
At 7pm tonight on the Pac-12 network, the 9th place Buffs (4-9, 14-11) will travel to Washington to face the 5th place #8 Washington (8-4, 17-4). I'm not holding my breath on this one since they swept us last time, but they have also lost 4 of 5 which could help us. I'll post the link for the livestats when it becomes available.

Soccer
Today at 3pm is the final match of the season for the 11th place Buffs as they host the 8th place Utah Utes at 3pm on the Pac-12 network. A win by the Buffs could mean the difference between a potential 8th place finish and a potential 12th place finish. For the people attending the game, in honor of Senir Day, the first 100 people will receive and autographed poster and a Gatorade squeeze bottle.

Buffs Conclude Regular Season Against Utah

Release: 11/01/2012 Courtesy: Marlee Horn, Graduate Assistant SID
QUICKLY: CU soccer returns to Prentup Field one last time this season after a split weekend in Arizona. The Buffs are 8-8-3 overall, 2-7-1 Pac-12 as they head into their final regular season game on Friday against Utah. The game is at 3 p.m., and the first 100 fans in attendance will receive a free autographed CU soccer poster in honor of Senior Day! The first 100 fans will also receive a free Gatorade Squeeze Bottle courtesy of game sponsor Gatorade.

INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES: For those members of the media wishing to interview the women's soccer team during the season, please contact Graduate Assistant Sports Information Director/Soccer Contact Marlee Horn at (303) 492-7525 or marlee.horn@colorado.edu. COLORADO VS. UTAH: Colorado and Utah have a lengthy history, meeting eight times since 1998. CU holds a 6-2 lead over Utah, including a 3-0 victory in the 2004 NCAA Tournament. The Buffs' two losses were in the teams' first and most recent match-ups. This will be their first meeting at Prentup Field (where the Utes are winless) since 2009. Both teams are looking for a first this season, with CU going for its first conference win on home turf and Utah searching for its first Pac-12 road victory.

SCOUTING THE UTES: The Utes have been sliding late in the season, losing their last four bouts, giving them an 8-8-2, 3-7-0 record. Ten players have scored for Utah, led by Harley Spier and Katie Taylor with four goals apiece. The Utes dropped a pair against the Arizona schools last weekend. They fell 4-1 to Arizona State and lost 1-0 to Arizona in the final two seconds of double overtime.

SENIOR DAY: The Buffs will celebrate the team's six seniors before Friday's game. Captain midfielder Amy Barczuk has been an essential player in all four years, leaving a lasting impact on the team and in the record books. Midfielder Shaye Marshall, defender Quinn Krier and forward Erin Bricker have quite literally assisted Colorado to goals and wins. Defender Lauren Shaner has helped the Buffs build a dominate backline, racking up eight shutouts this season. Keeper Kayla Millar helped CU to its first-ever Pac-12 victory, shutting out No. 15 California last season.

LAST WEEK: The Buffs tied season high scoring in their 3-0 win over Arizona. The Buffs' defense came up big once again, with two backs scoring in CU's eighth shutout of the season. Lizzy Herzl scored the third goal of her career (and her first since her freshman season) in the 19th minute off a Shaye Marshall corner kick to take the early lead. Storie Ledger, with help from Hayley Hughes, added insurance 16 seconds before the break. Ledger's first career goal helped the Buffs' take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Colorado is now 3-1 when taking a two goal lead into the second half. In the 79th minute, Bianca Jones scored off an assist from Nikola Machalek for her second career goal in three games during the road trip. The Buffs fell 2-1 to Arizona State in the final 22 seconds of double overtime. After several Buffs began an attack, captain Amy Barczuk found the back of the net to even the score before halftime. The Buffs entered the game undefeated in double overtime contests, but the Sun Devils were heated in the final 10 minutes, taking four shots in the second overtime, and scoring in the closing seconds.

PAC-12 NETWORKS: This will be the seventh CU soccer game broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks. In the first season of the Networks, Colorado has gone 2-3-1 in televised games, while Utah has posted a 3-3 record.

BACK-TO-BACK IN THE PAC: For the first time since joining the conference last season, Colorado recorded back-to-back Pac-12 wins, all while on the road. CU claimed its first conference victory of the season on Sunday, Oct. 19 against USC. Colorado ended double overtime action with an exclamation point, grabbing a 1-0 win over the Women of Troy. Hayley Hughes had a short throw-in to Anne Stuller who set up the play. Stuller avoided two USC defenders, turned and crossed to the Buffs in front of the net. Amy Barczuk got the ball and slid left past the defense and hit the game-winner. The Buffs followed up that performance with another shutout. CU blanked Arizona 3-0, with Lizzy Herzl, Storie Ledger and Bianca Jones all netting goals.

BRUNNER AND THE BUFFALO BACKLINE: Goalkeepers Annie Brunner and Kayla Millar helped the Buffs to their eighth shutout of the season in CU's 3-0 win over Arizona. Brunner has led the team to seven shutouts this season, the third most by one keeper in a single season at CU. Brunner's five shutouts in 2010 also place her in a tie at seventh place for CU. She ranks third all-time for the Buffs with 14 career shutouts. Brunner is joined by an experienced backline who can work the entire pitch, with backs Lizzy Herzl, Bianca Jones and Amy Barczuk all scoring goals last weekend.

AY, AY CAPTAIN: Senior captain Amy Barczuk has been an immensely versatile player for the Buffs this season. She is second on the squad in points and goals, netting four goals and contributing an assist. Barczuk ranks 11th all-time for the Buffs with 123 shots attempted in her career. She is tied for ninth on CU's career list with 75 starts, and holds down the 12th spot with 77 games played. Only nine other Buffs have started at least 75 of at least 77 games played. Barczuk joins Fran and Laura Munnelly and Melissa Cartmell as the only Buffs to have played in every one of the team's games during their four-year tenure at CU.

JONESING FOR GOALS: Sophomore defender Bianca Jones has scored two goals in three games during the Buffs' final road trip. She has taken just two shots in her career, netting them both this season. After her first goal against UCLA, Jones said she has been ready to score again, doing just that in the Buffs' 3-0 win over Arizona.

DULY APPOINTED MARSHALL: Senior Shaye Marshall contributed her third assist of the season, and fourth of her career, against Arizona. Marshall took a pair of corner kicks in the opening 20 minutes of the game, with the second connecting with Lizzy Herzl to put the Buffs on the board.

QUINNING: Quinn Krier has had a stellar senior campaign. With one goal going into 2012, Krier has contributed five assists this season alone. She now ties Katie Griffin (2006) for third most assists by a senior. She is one of 16 players in CU history to have at least five assists in a single season.

TIME AFTER TIME: The Buffs have gone to extra minutes in seven games this season, including five double overtimes. Half of Colorado's conference match-ups have gone into at least one overtime. From 2006-10, CU went into overtime at least five times each season. The Buffs went into extra minutes a record nine times in 2010, including once in the postseason.

NAIL BITERS: Six of the Buffs' eight defeats this season have been determined by a single goal, including games against top-ranked Stanford and UCLA. All but one of Colorado's Pac-12 losses this season have been one goal defeats, with three of those games going into overtime.

ALL-STAR ATHLETES: Four Buff s have received major honors this season.

Oct. 15-20: Amy Barczuk, CU Athlete of the Week vs. Southern California W 1-0 2 shots 1 goal 2 points Barczuk scored the game winner in the 105th minute of the double overtime contest to help the Buff s claim their first conference win and their seventh shutout of the season.

Sept. 10-16: Annie Brunner, CU Athlete of the Week vs. Wyoming W 2-0 0 goals allowed 4 saves vs. Air Force W 2-0 0 goals allowed 4 saves Brunner recorded back-to-back shutouts for the second weekend this season. Brunner and the Buff s' defense shut out five opponents through their first nine games.

Aug. 27-Sept. 2: Madison Krauser, CU Athlete of the Week vs. Northwestern T 2-2 3 shots 1 goal 2 points Krauser's first goal of the season came just minutes after captain Amy Barczuk scored in the second half. She is the only freshman to have started every game.

Aug. 20-27: Anne Stuller, Pac-12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week, CU Athlete of the Week, Soccer America Women's Team of the Week vs. LIU W 2-0 6 shots 2 goals 4 points vs. Wright State W 2-1 5 shots 2 goals 4 points Stuller joined Nikki Marshall (2006) and Katie Griffin (2005) to become only the third player in CU history to have three multiple goal games in a single season, with her other two-goal game happening at Northern Colorado.

Aug. 13-19: Annie Brunner, Pac-12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week vs. Northern Colorado W 3-0 0 goals allowed 3 saves vs. Colorado College T 0-0 0 goals allowed 5 saves Brunner shut out both teams in the Colorado Cup and also shut out LIU in the Omni Hotels Colorado Women's Soccer Classic. It was the first time in CU history the Buff s started their season with three shutouts and the first time since 2008 the team had three shutouts in a row. Anne Stuller, CU Athlete of the Week vs. Northern Colorado W 3-0 3 shots 2 goals 4 points vs. Colorado College T 0-0 2 shots Stuller's first goal of the game came at the 5:03 mark, assisted by Hayley Hughes. Head coach Danny Sanchez described her second goal off a free kick as a "world class strike." Stuller helped the Buff s to their second consecutive Colorado Cup, winning with a 3-1 overall goal differential.

Buffs got swept by last place Washington State, so we shall see how they come back tonight against a ranked team. I'm thinking they might find themselves swept again. They were not in a single set Wednesday.

Yeah it's probably not going to be a good day for the Buffs, but you never know. Here are some pics from their trip to Seattle.

The Buffs finish the season 2-7-2 in conference, 8-8-2 overall. With Arizona losing, that puts us in a tie with them for last place. They had a few opportunities missed this season that could have possibly had them finish in the top half of the conference. Not a horrible start for first year coach Danny Sanchez as there are some things that they can build on next season.

A .500 record was a significant improvement for this season. I believe our Soccer program is headed in the right direction. Sanchez will get it going.
