Hours after the University of Colorado's latest embarrassment on the football field Saturday, athletic director Mike Bohn promised changes are coming without saying exactly what he has in mind in a brief interview with the Daily Camera.

I know I keep writing this again, and again, but I can't help myself.

The administration kept the failed Hawkins experiment going a year too long, and knew it.

They then turned around and bowed to sentimental pressure to hire a coach that was not qualified by any reasonable standard. And paid him very little, when compared to our competitors, demonstrating their commitment to the program.

And now they're trying to figure out what's wrong? And now they're placating angry fans and donors by vowing changes?

Ummmmmm....**** you?

wait whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

I'll summarize. Its a proclamation of a future announcement which may or may not be transformative, but will be based upon evaluations.

Oh yeah, and Mike Bohn says that we are not where we want to be.

I'm not a serious hard-core Buff Club type fan; just a CU alum who gave up her season tickets, alas, after the Chuck Fairbanks era. So I ask this question in all honesty: why is CU chronically unable to get the prime Colorado HS prospects? (yeah, I know some of you will say "Lendale White," but just how well did THAT work out, after all?)

Why was this year's leading Heisman Trophy candidate, a Loveland HS graduate who is playing QB for Kansas State, not even recruited by CU?

Why does CU not even consider Dave Logan when coaching vacancies occur? Does anyone really think he would have done any worse than Neuheisel, Hawkins, or Embree? If anyone could recruit local players like Collin Klein, it would be Logan. I guess CU would rather focus their efforts on California high schools. As Dr. Phil would say, "How's that workin' for ya?"

I forget who I was talking to about this, but I swear I see this fairly frequently. I guess at this point anyone that wants a change is on the right path, even if the path they want is to hiring a ****ing high school coach..

Mr. Bobble Head Yes Man fix everything...yeah right. MB has presided over losing FB everywhere he's been and he took a conference contender and turned that into seven straight losing seasons. MB is what his FB team's records have been....you figure out the descriptor.

Boner mentions "football professionals" are on the evaluation team? Who? Maybe be brought Danny in during a break from shooting "Experts" on ESPN.

On the rediculous topic of looking at high school coaches to lead CU football, any honest discussion should seek to evaluate how Dave Logan stacks up against prep coaches from other successful high school programs.

Tom Westerberg from Allen High School could be used as a benchmark. Tom is in 9th year as head coach of the Allen Eagles. His accomplishments include.
District Champions: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011
Bi-District Champions: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011
Area Champions: 2006, 2008 97
Regional Champions: 2006, 2008 Quarter Final Champions: 2006, 2008
Semifinal Champions: 2008
State Champions: 2008
Many of his players have gone on to NCAA and NFL success.

He has a more intimate knowledge of a bigger and more fertile prep football hotbed than Logan. That alone sets Westerberg above Dave.

For anyone serious about Logan, please make your case as to why he is more qualified than Westerberg or some HC of a successful Texas or Southern California prep football factory.

I do actually think Logan would be an improvement, but that isn't saying much

Hey, Mike...

I am dead serious when I say that if CU hires Dave Logan to be the head coach, I'm finished with CU football. No tickets, no tailgating, no Buff Club, no recruiting luncheons or kickoff luncheons. I'm done. That would be the final insult.

a dave logan hire means CU has lost to the bronco first media idiots imo. embree was a nostalgia gamble but nfl cred trumps hs cred.

Logan would be setting himself up to fail..... something he didn't do during his football and post football career

To think that CU would go from a guy with zero coordinator experience and zero head coaching experience (Embree) to a guy who has never coached ANYWHERE (Logan) would truly be the icing on the cake for this once proud University and athletic department.

Ringo came out and said in reference to this article that Embree's job is almost guaranteed to be safe for next season.

what could happen to push the threshold of "almost" at this point. we get blown out regularly at home even.

what else can happen? we already lost to Sacramento State in Boulder....

the bottom is already here.

no disrespect Carolina...we are hoopster Buffs and strong.

For whatever reason, Ringo is firmly entrenched in Embree's corner. He doesn't write an article without pointing out that Embree should get another year.

Hey, I'm not agreeing with it or at all happy about what Ringo is saying either. Given how woefully bad things are, making changes only to the assistants has cop-out written all over it.

Kyle Ringo ‏@KyleRingo @mattsparkman Assistants. Everything I have heard from CU officials tells me Embree's job is safe for at least a year.

He has always sucked. Remember when he and Neil Woelk were teamed up? Two imbeciles. Bush league all the way. He should move to Fort Collins or Lincoln.....

woelk was a complete tool. I used to like Neil when he worked for Dan Creedon on the Camera sports page.
