Mike Bohn vows changes are coming

Right mike, you're NOW going to increase dramatically the way you review all aspects of the program. Hmmm...improvements and adjustments will be made.

I'll believe it when I see it.

How are those facilities coming along?

He's so full of BS...he couldn't pick a winner in a one horse race. But oh now he gets it. Yeah right, stick your finger in the air and see which way the wind is blowing Mikey, seven years of losing FB, way to go. What a joke we have for an AD.

Ahhh, so I guess EB is going back up in the booth huh?

Maybe a position coach or two will trade places? Am thinking this is more like what they going to come up with so they can say changes were made.

Keep shuffling the deck chairs.

Shuffling deck chairs on the TITANIC doesn't mean much...

I know this is unpopular but I am not convinced Bohn is the problem. Many of us think he was forced to keep Halk 1 year longer, and his hand was forced to hire JE and Co. by Buff Alums, the Administration, etc.

He hired great with Boyle as we all know and I still give him credit for helping to get us into the Pac 12. (I know right now that doesn't seem so great given the state of our FB program but long term I think it will be great for all sports and the Uni with the $ coming in).

That said, I am also skeptical about what kind of changes he can even make right now. I highly doubt JE is getting fired yet, EB maybe should be, but he got the other long-term contract so I doubt that too. I think GB is certainly on the hot seat and could go quickly or be demoted to DB coach.

As everyone is saying, I don't think there is a chance for a rearranged staff and housecleaning if JE stays on.

Boyd, I think Bohn's giving into the Buffs4Life alumni power-base gives him a LOT of options. "They did it! Everyone asked for it - now they got it! It wasn't my decision - you all wanted to push me aside, so fine, enjoy it!"

For the shortsighted many on this forum, though, it's no "spin". Embree NEEDS to be fired. This gives HIM a future in Football. "Fired after ONLY two years!" is going to sound so much better on his resumé than "Given four years and only set records for opponents". That's what keeping Jon will do.

Think about HIS options, for goodness sake. HE NEEDS A BETTER FUTURE. Fire him. This opens that door for him. Otherwise, he'll be rolling in a pit of failure, and that stench won't go away. Why do so many on here want to hurt his future? FIRE HIM. This is NOT a shame-able offense in the college football world of REALITY. No spin at all. Only delusional shortsighted nitwits think it is. CU Football does NOT need those types - they support loserdom.

Firing him will also give Bohn the chance to say, "Buffs4Life, there's the door - from now on, it's MY Athletic Department" and he can select his own coaches. He can make CU Football look decisive instead of being a rural runway's windsock.

Bohn has this one great chance. Fire Embree. It helps him with all future moves. It helps CU Football appear decisive and demanding. "No shyster coaches need apply."

Good that he's evaluating the ****** performance of the team. Finally.

Unfortunately, the outcome from his "evaluation" will be a band-aid attempt at a fix and not the house cleaning that needs to happen.

This is an institution that has been evaluating a facilities expansion since 2000. Just sayin'.

I like this spin. Firing JE is doing him a favor while also serving CU. We need to reinforce this concept at every turn.

Before we got too excited, Ringo seems sure that Embree's job is safe.

He may be right but I'm convinced that Ringo's soft coverage of the team and coaches is part of a greater problem. He might as well work in the CU marketing department because there sure as **** isn't anything in his articles that resembles journalism.

In this specific case I'm guessing he is retreading on Bensen's comments earlier this season that he was committed to Embree through next season. Given the embarrassing results and negative national attention from the on field performance since those comments were made I wouldn't be surprised if that attitude has or is changing.

I agree with Boyd. I think Bohn is a small part of the problem. Hawkins was widely regarded as a good pick...didn't work out. Apparently Bohn was stopped from firing Pigeon and we kept him a year too long. Hamstrung financially, he picked Embree. Again a pretty popular choice, particularly with boosters.

The problems are deeper than AD. No money, no general studies, few academic exemptions, so-so facilities. Some of these are changing but without addressing them all, I think we'll continue to suffer.

If Benson truly will not support firing Embree after only 2 years, Bohn's only option would be to .... God, what a mess. Everything I come up with is crap if Bohn does't have the backing of the administration. Would the administration allow him to give Embree an ultimatum? "Make changes in your staff or else?" Would Benson at least let him do that? Because if he won't, then Bohn should just say "**** it" and leave.

Honestly I don't think Bohn is THE problem, he may be part of it but the real issue is the upper admin. Like has been said Hawk was seen as a huge hire when we got him. We thought he could work that boise magic here and other big schools around the country were trying to get his services as well. Bohn made a good decision when picking hawk. It obviously didn't work but that is because the real brains of boise is still up there. He had his hands tied due to finances and due to the restrictions placed by the chancellor and the president. He fired Hawk as soon as he was able to. I think the embree hire was made because we had no income that year, were paying off two head coaches and the former players, coach mac, the fans, and the admin wanted a CU guy. The options were going to be Coach Mac, Embree, or EB and Coach Mac was not getting it. Hopefully this year Bohn will be able to hire his own coach and have some deep pockets to do so. He showed that he is not the type to shy away from firing coaches for poor performance in our court programs, but that is because the Admin lets him do what he wants with those programs.

Until we have a new president and a new chancellor I don't expect to see much improvement on the gridiron

Don't know If this is a good or bad thing considering Mike Bohn is the AD that hired the current coaching staff. Not confident that he can make the right hire.

Here is my opinion after sleeping on it. Bohn is going to do everything in his power to make sure Embree has the support he needs for the remainder of the year. Which is exactly what a good AD should do by supporting their coaches. Embree still has a quarter of the season remaining, and Bohn wants him to turn it around so that they can give him more time. This is also why Ringo is saying they are only looking at assistants right now. However, MB has not come out to say what the changes will be, and I am guessing we won't learn anything until the end of the season. If (when) the team ****s the bed for the remaining 3 games, and the damage is too severe, then he will probably let the whole staff go. There will be absolutely no way financially that he can hope to afford keeping Embree for another year. I don't think they would look at firing Embree if there was something for the team to hang their hats on, but because BOTH the offense and defense are historically bad, hiring new assistants will just be setting the clock back two years to zero in the Embree regime, with very strong data already showing that it is very unlikely to work out.

Changes are coming, there's no doubting that. The biggest change will be attendance at football games. We barely scratched past 40K yesterday. We won't get near that against UW. By the time the UU game rolls around, and we're sitting at 1-10, I expect the attendance to be somewhere just north of 30K. Heaven help us if there's any hint of bad weather.

One can only hope that is true.

Kentucky has fired coach Joker Phillips in just his 3rd year. Interesting to note that he was 1-9 and 0-7 this year, but a not-so-bad 11-14 his first 2 seasons, the first of which included a bowl game.

Mike Bohn, you're up.

Kentucky cares about football.

...I hope you don't run a business that depends on CU football fans going to Folsom.
Ain't that the truth?!! I just wonder if Buff4Life signed contracts with the vendors to prop up lost sales for concessions. Of course - which of the previous 5 Hawkins' years could any vendor claim as "average"?

In a way, the vendors are lucky to have so much great experience in non-sales and collapsing season attendance. I feel sorry for them, though. And landfills. That's a LOTTA petro-chemical-nacho sauce to flood into the groundwater system. "Don't worry about pipeline leaks - CU Football's got plenty of leftover nacho-flavored glue!"

The more I watch these Buffs. They are not being coached very well at all. I wanted it to work, but it is time to cut the cord and move on. Can not afford to wait and slip backwards anymore, but it's going to cost some money
