There was a lot of speculation a few days ago that Oklahoma was going to step up, offer Hilinski, and lock him down once Max Browne chose USC. That hasn't happened yet, so Hilinski is still on the market.

He's spent the last couple weeks making unofficial visits and deciding on favorites.

March 29th:
“I’m hearing from a lot of other schools right now too but the main ones I’m focusing on are Arkansas, USC, Colorado, Oklahoma and Duke. I know I can visit USC anytime since it’s so close and like I said, best case scenario, I’ll be able to make my decision sometime in the summer.”

He's expected to be at the CU Junior Day this week. Very underrated by the star system this year.

Picked up 2 more Ivy League offers.

If he wants a chance to compete at the BCS level and doesn't get offers (assuming Arky isn't commitable), then there's going to be a huge recruiting battle in the Pac-12 to get him to walk on.

Intersting...

The Buffs have offered the 2013 QB prospect.

http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncfrecruiting/on-the-trail/post?id=19748

"It means a lot to me," Hilinski said of the offer. "They've been talking to me since I was a sophomore and they've stayed with me through the process."

"I'm just trying to be patient," Hilinski said. "I originally planned to commit before my senior season, but obviously that didn't happen. I'm going to try to take a couple visits during the season, but I want to take all my visits. I want to put my team first during the year."

Hilinski said Harvard will definitely receive a visit, while UCLA and Arkansas are likely candidates as well.

This has to be an offer where he comes in only if Sefo decommits or he is coming in at a different position.

coaches are hedging bets seems like...do like the size and decent speed for a big tall kid

Embree's QB/RB recruiting philosophy "throw shi* at the wall and hope it sticks."

I wonder if this means that a few of the guys on the bottom of the depth chart are on their way out. We have some scholarships going to guys who have no hope of ever seeing the field for us.

May be better for those guys to go to FCS or D2 where they have a chance to play and to replace them with young guys who have a chance of providing reasonable depth.

Recruiting Dillon and Liufau should be considered throwing **** at the wall?

We have 6 QB's on the team right now and Embree brought in 5 of them. None are good. We have 8 RB's on the roster, Embree brought in 6. None are particularly good. At some point quality is going to have to mean something

A little early IMO to be writing off Dillon. If Webb has won the job against the others...well, let's just say I agree.

I think Powell's pretty good.

Considering Shane was rehabbing an injury, has hardly been able to practice and has never seen the field, I'd say "a little early" is putting it lightly.
I think Dillon's going to be a player, as is Liufau.
That being said, none of the running backs really gets me going. Powell had one great game (I know the line sucks), but he seems like a good No. 2 guy. He doesn't scream home-run hitter.

With our O supposedly going more Spread, why are we recruiting a QB like this?

Visiting in December.

Still not really understanding the motivation to take another freshman QB in this class.

Given the importance of the position and the lack of talent we currently have there I dont have an issue with the "throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks approach." I also wouldn't assume that if this scholly didn't go to Hillinski it would be put to better use. For all we know if would be given to another one of McCartney's grandkids.

Maybe Hilinski is a guy we could look at offering a scholarship too and then having him GS. From what I read it sounds like he is a guy who could maybe start his JR/SR years with the correct development arc.
