2012 Colorado Men's Basketball Preview

Talked to my buddy who's a Wofford grad today. Voiced the same things we've generally heard: Wofford has had an excellent run over the past few years. Solid program with clear identity of what they need to do to win games. They're very young this year, but they do have some nice young talent that could easily be playing in better conferences. They're all about the half court and slowing it down -- they hate transition. It's going to be a clash of styles. Buffs should win this by double digits, but wouldn't be overly shocking if Wofford proved frustrating to break down and hung around for a while. Good first game for us. Playing a Ft. Lewis doesn't do anything -- this will be a good warm-up for Charleston.

Finally, a Buff sports season that I'm looking forward to and won't be utterly humiliated over

GO BUFFS!

Jenkins and Adams not warming up. Looks like we will go 8 deep tonight.

Who ever is working the game cast for ESPN must be drunk. Check out the score graph...

34-23 at the half. About what you'd expect for an opening game. Hope to see more from the post in the second half. Talton got in, so that's the end of any redshirt rumors there.

Kinda thought I would see a bit more excitement after a buff win, or perhaps we have just forgot how to celebrate a win?

Anyway, great to see Ski and the Mayor come off big from their freshman years, and Jelly Scott put up some nice numbers. I was hoping to see some more offense from Dre.

All in all, a good win for the Team and the fans.

Go Buffs!

All-in-All A decent Game, Wofford can play.

Looks like both Gordon and Jenkins will redshirt.
Talton was better than expected.
Scott is a silent Killer and great from the line.

Andre is going to have to adjust to having Scott and Johnson on the court, his numbers may dip, it will be interesting to watch him adjust and could seriously affect his draft stock.

Good win. Wofford is young, but as expected, they're decent and tough. If they mature like they should, they'll be in the thick of it in the SoCon tournament with a chance to Dance. Booker and the Mayor are firing on all cylinders. Scott is a man among boys, but it's going to take a bit of time for things to gel in the post and get things truly cohesive between Scott and Dre down there. This was a solid springboard for Charleston, now let's go down there and go 2-1 (or 3-0).

I'm not sure about Jenkins redshirting tonight. It looks like Tad was playing lots of lineups to try the right combo. I hate to say it but we have no scoring punch off the bench right now.

I think we did okay for it to be so many of our players' first games. The big difference was that our inside game just couldn't match up. This is often the problem for low and mid majors facing major conference competition. But I think our young team will get better and we'll compete well in the Southern Conference. Congrats on the win, Buffs. As for us, I think we'll be fine. There was a lot to get encouraged about from our young guys.

Good luck to you. I thought Wofford played pretty darn good with such a young squad. Maybe see you in the dance.

I'll echo the sentiments -- good luck to your team the rest of the way. Hope to see ya in the dance.

Good game, wofford94. It was about the result we all expected, and quite typical of an opening game, especially between two teams with a lot of youth out there. If I were you, I'd be encouraged. This is the type of game that is going to develop your youth and have you guys in great shape to compete for the SoCon. I'll be seeing you guys live on Dec. 30th when you visit UVA, and I look forward to checking in and seeing how much you've developed by that point. As for us, we go to your home state for a difficult tournament in Charleston. Our first game is with Dayton, and the field is quite difficult. There's a chance we may bump into your rivals, CofC. Good luck the rest of the way, I'll certainly be pulling for the Terriers the rest of the season.

Wofford is an extremely well coached team. Nothing easy against them on offense. Even with all the 3s they jacket up, we got very few run-outs. Excellent first game test and a Wofford squad it will be easy to root for the rest of the year.

My big complaint about the game was an officiating crew that was obsessed with offensive fouls, particularly on guys setting screens. I think in the first half that 75% of the foul calls were on the offense.

Roll Tad. Askia Booker First Team all Pac12! Team is better than last year.
Surprised about Gordon Redshirting; we are thin at power forward.

It looked to me like the refs have a point of emphasis this season on calling moving screens

Wofford reminded me a lot of the 2011-12 buffs. That's a damn well coached team. Insanely disciplined for how young they were.

Agree with both. Of ford stayed in control and tried their best to stay within their game. Too much size from the Buffs but this is a game that we would have struggled with last year. They are very well coached. Based on the way Tad's teams have progressed and gotten better through the season, tonight should be a indicator of good things to come. The freshman are damn fun to watch. At times we had tow, three and four true freshman on the floor producing well. Look so forward to the rest of the season.

Wasn't by the computer all weekend, so just my quick thoughts.

The Mayor was the best player in the gym without a doubt. Very impressed. Booker was also very good. Josh Scott is going to be a great post presence, it'll be interesting to see how strong he is against a team that has some legit post defenders. Andre was fine, he will not be top 5 in the country in rebounding this year though, too many other bodies that will provide rebounding. Wofford is a solid young team. #32 can shoot the rock, but Spencer shut him down in the second half.
