Coaching Staff: Focus on the positive

Okay, we see a lot of the negatives.

--The win loss record is atrocious, including losses to a bad CSU team and AA Sac State.

--The way we lose is disturbing. HUGE blowout losses.

--In most games, our offense looks totally inept. 76 total yards against Stanford.

--We've given up all sorts of records for other teams. Fresno State, for instance. We might give up another record today, for rushing yards to Cary (sp?).

--Late in the season we can't get plays in to the team on time. We look discombobulated, frequently. Lots and lots of delay and false start penalties.

--On defense we're often out of position, and quarterbacks not only have high completion percentages against us, but also we give up big yards per pass play as well.

--Our rush defense is non-existant and our tackling is poor.

--Rumors abound that the locker-room is divided, and the staff has lost the team. The players appear to have quit.

--Fans appear prepared to abandon Folsom on game day (we'll see).

--The few recruiting victories we've had look ready to abandon, or already have. In fact, it seems unlikely--based by our on-field performance--that this staff will be able to successfully recruit at all this year.

Okay, there are probably more negatives that I haven't listed. But I'm not asking anyone to list them. What are the positives that we can look toward, if our administration decides to keep our HC?

By hiring former Buffs we have restored our pride and tradition?

Like most ABers based on the recent poll, I hope we do a full-blown restart with a quality coaching staff. But trying to be objective there are a few bright sides without being sarcastic:

1.) Way fewer penalties than in the Halk years and last year's team
2.) 2012 recruiting class I think was pretty good
3.) Overall discipline and academic performance is better under JE
4.) Some quality young players on the team that are getting experience early
5.) I believe 2 high quality QBs in line with Dillon and Sefo. Worried that Sefo may have a change of heart though

Ummmmm.....

If we bring this staff back we'll be one year closer to actually firing this staff?

The relative legacies of Fairbanks and Hawkins as all-time Buffs coaches have been dramatically improved.

This game showed some running. More to do with a poor AZ defense, but it was good. Hirsh and Wood were good. Few mistakes.

I believe that today's game -- which we lost by 25 points -- will ultimately be offered as justification to keep Embree around next year.

CU has a football program, unlike University of Denver or University of Chicago.

The team plays on national TV, unlike Harvard or Eastern Washington.

The team is in a BCS conference, unlike Colorado State or BYU or Boise.

The fans display a desire to return the program to glory, eventhough we lack the capacity.

Boulder is one hell of a nice town that just happens to have some screwy priorities.

This is a pretty good list and it's interesting that these are all logistical items.

Surprise, surprise. Another week, another team lays 50 plus points on us. I just think it is sad that anyone with ties to this program can even even offer up an excuse or fathom any reason why Embree still has a job.

The fact that some would even consider one more year of Embree is mind numbing. What has he done to show you next year will be any different? He has not recruited much better than Hawkins. None of his recruiting classes have been in the top 30. We don't have the players to compete in the PAC 12 this year and neither will we next year. Our assistant coaches are awful. Not only are we getting mauled and gashed by legitimate teams, minnows like Arizona, Fresno etc are equally having their way with us on the field. In the past, these sort of teams could not even hold up against our back ups.

So we go from winning 1 game this year to 3 next year. Please fire all of them yesterday! We need to begin as soon as possible to try to raise this corpse of a program before it completely rots.

The stewards of our program who fire Embree would be the same stooges that hired him.

These stewards should not be entrusted with the responsibility of hiring Embree's replacement.

Those who want Embree fired now are not thinking this all the way through.

Yes. We are. I mean, what are they odds they'd again hire a head coach along with 2 coordinators who have zero experience as head coaches or coordinators? The odds against hiring a less qualified staff are astronomical.

The odds are roughly the same as them opening up their wallets to spend market prices for a viable head coach, fast track a transformational facilities overhaul and empower the AD to actually do his job.

I've learned, through commercials, that Bob Stoops will show up at a highschool and say "hello" to a running back who has an awesome YouTube video where he gets flipped and lands on his feet.

Empower? More like resurrect. Mikey has laid down so long I don't think he knows any different anymore.

You want a positive? This is positively the worst staff I have ever seen. This is postively the most brain dead trio of AD, Chancellor and President I have ever seen. Focus on the postives, give me a break.

Positives?, I thought we fired the Boise Zen monkey....

It's possible that you misunderstood the premise of the thread.

We can look forward to another year of classic Vince Lombardiesque motvational quotes like...

-- "I wish I could give you an answer." - JE
-- "We had a certain goal to get Ka'Deem Carey contained and obviously it did not
happen." - GB
-- Said Embree of his defense: "It was not a good performance."

Ka'Deem Carey's performance was ONLY the 9th best rushing performance in FBS history

Oh, and how about that we shouldn't have to deal with the "we started (fill in the blank) freshmen" excuse... we won't recruit enough freshmen for that to be a factor for next year.
