Cierra Simpson, Doherty/CO Juniors VBC in Colorado Springs switched her commitment from U. of TX-San Antonio to CU over the weekend. Doherty just won the 5A State Championship over the weekend. Congrats Cierra!!!

Nice to see my HS alma mater representing the Buffs again. Doherty has a history of a very strong women's volleyball and b-ball program, and has had several graduates become Buffs, notably for the women's b-ball team.

According to MaxPreps, their volleyball team is 29-0-0 and ranked 9th in the country.

Cierra's also got a sister on the team who is a year younger. Older sister was a star for Doherty a couple years ago.

Older sister Taylor was a terriffic high school VB player however she has been a total enigma since hs. She signed with Nebraska in the 2011 class, played some as a freshman, left Neb in Jan 2012. Since then she has spent a week on campus at FlaSt this past summer then went to Mizzou. She has recently left Mizzou for personal reasons after playing in 14 matches this season. I hope she gets herself figured out.

I also hope that younger sister Cierra, who is not the hyped player that Taylor was, has herself better grounded because the Buffs have enough to be concerned about as they focus on their play on the court and try to grow into a competitor in the PAC-12.

According to Rich Kern, a VB info site, older sister Taylor Simpson is also coming to Colorado next fall. If this is true, I hope she has gotten past whatever her problems have been. If this is true, this will be her fourth school and she is still just in her sophmore year. She surely seemed talented as a high school senior, coming out of high school as the 9th ranked high school senior in the country, according to one service. Since then, its been a puzzle with a bit of soap opera thrown in. IF she can get past whatever has been her problems and can focus on being a part of this team, welcome. Again if this is true, I just hope that the coaches know what they are doing in taking her on.

Coming home can make a difference. We need talent and it's worth the risk.

I'm excited to have the Simpson sisters coming to CU. We should have a VB team that can take another significant step forward next year.

Taylor SHOULD have to sit out a year. In VB, you get one free pass transfer but if you transfer again, you should have to sit out a year. Of course, she has already transferred twice and not had to sit after the second one. There are always NCAA exceptions. So we shall see what happens.

The mystery deepens. In the write-up of CU final match, only three letters of commitment are mentioned. No mention of this kid or her sister.

There was nothing in that article but it did mention it here and a few other places too, so who knows
