Jack Del Rio

A couple of years ago when the USC job was open, the rumor was that they were going to go after him to be the HC but he was still in Jax at the time. Sounded like he listened though but they ended up with Kiffen and then Del Rio got booted the next year out of Jax.

The guy has proven he would make a great coach and he is right in our own back yard. Going to be one of the hot candidates if he isn't already. Definetly someone I would love to have at CU and getting him would DEFINETLY be a sign that we are willing to commit to football at this school.

Without a new coach of that caliber, I am making sure that none of my money gets funneled into the University.

Looks like the Broncos will be looking for a new DC next year.

Well that is the thing, the Broncos cant keep a DC for more than a year anyway so someone is going to get him, it is just a matter of who? Really I think he will do a second year with the Broncos and then get the HC job at USC after Kiffen gets booted next year. Would be great if we could snatch him up first though.

Herm would be good because he is a teacher. He commands respect of his men without breaking them down, yelling, or being an a-hole. He would have the respect of his team and their parents, and would be a force in a recruit's living room. His schemes may leave something to be desired, but I suspect he knows enough good football guys to build a strong staff.

As far as ex-NFL coaches go, I think I'd feel the same way about Jon Gruden.

Great another father coach and son qb.... Just what we need! that will hold us down for another 4 to 5 years of awesomeness...

Please, no NFL coaches. I want to see the next HC be a guy that is currently successful at the college level as a DC or OC, and already knows how to recruit and teach college players how to practice and play.

If I had to take a former NFL guy I would take Tony Dungy. But want the ND DC.

There are a lot of good quality coordinators (specifically defensive coprdinators) available this year. It would be a shame to let them all get away.

Has Jack Del Rio ever been a college coach? Seems like a lifetime NFL coach.

No chance...He'll have another NFL Head Coaching Opportunity by season's end

He will have one, they question is if he takes it. He makes pretty good money as a defensive cordinator. Although his son will have graduated by then so many not.

Awesome! Maybe he could get Luke to come in and play QB instead of at Okie Lite!

Flame away, bitches.

Delusional.

Del rio isn't coming here. If kiffin were to get popped then maybe he'd take the USC job for like 5 mm per year but otherwise he will wait for a nfl hc job.

We can't pull a hot candidate right now. We have to go old or damaged or up and coming.

Del Rio is making $5M this year...but most of that is coming from Jacksonville. That's this issue: CU won't be able to compete in big boy football until they start paying big boy salaries.

When the combined salary of your HC, OC and DC are less than the head coach of our so-called little brother, you're not going to compete.

Guys like Del Rio are a pipedream. He'll command $4-6 million easy. A guy like Herm is making between $400k-$800k at ESPN. Why come here and deal with all this BS for the same money?

Sorry. Call it a pipedream or delusional whatever. I want to win. Where is all the pac money going? If they dont make a splash then they will have to rely on actual results and that can take years to undo the damage from the last decade.

Because it wouldn't be the same money

Del Rio isn't coming here, and I don't want another NFL staff. I want a staff that runs an innovated offense, can compensate for a lack of talent, ones that can recruit the mom, and ones who set themselves and their team up to succeed on gameday.

I suppose if some guy like Del Rio or Edwards, for some reason, decided they'd like the challenge of building a program more than the money, maybe they'd consider it. But that's about the only chance I see.
