Obviously a great win/tournament so I hate to bring up a negative. But any time he is in and touches the ball I cringe. He is just not good

He gets great position out on the block. But is likely to fumble or let the ball fly right through his hands while trying to move. He may have the worst hands of any basketball player. Just cannot hold on.

He is clearly our weak link right now, so redshirting Gordon might not be entirely set in stone. It's like Tunks is dribbling a football

We play a game called shane vs boulder. If shane makes a good play its a point for shane, but if it is something a boulder could do just as effectively or better, then point boulder. Its mildly entertaining lol

He was in for a few minutes and badly air balled a three foot shot and then turned the ball over the very next possession.

Shane is a guy who can go in and provide some minutes against the other team's bigs.

don't forget the "charge" he got on one possession around then where he sort of attempted to get in front but kind of just went in from the side.

SHT value wont be appreciated until we get into PAC schedule. His five fouls and inside presence will be crucial. He looked awful in this tournamnet though.

Yep. Really depends on the makeup of the other team. Shane's valuable for us against a big team because he anchors well in the defensive post. But against a smaller or highly athletic team he really struggles. He doesn't have good hands or feet.

i lulz'd... rep... is it a drinking game?

Its a long season. The bench needs their minutes if, but for no other readon, to keep the starters fresh.

SHT and (oh man) Ben Mills have to be ready if Roberson, Scott and Xavier Johnson go out.

It's amazing to me because he's strong enough to establish good position. But, does he jump? How can someone so big who's never more than 5 feet from the hoop get <2 rebounds a game?

He seems to have an uncanny ability to find the ball at it's lowest point.

Bingo. 5 fouls to give and a big body to throw around. Not gonna give us much else, but that is something good.

Wondering about Gordon's redshirt though. If any injuries I'd think Gordon loses the shirt pretty quickly.

Thanks for the new away game drinking game

I doubt Mills will see the floor this year unless we're up 30 late at home.

agreed, we're going to need his minutes against smith at ucla....serious wide body....

SHT has issues, a big man that plays small.

(Different from you: a small man, who plays really smaller!)

Like "Dre", T-H is trying too hard to do something for the team and is choking; last spring after his nose was broken, he seemed to find himself and played decently. Quick! Somebody break his nose again----or maybe just make him wear that facemask.

Those five fouls/PG and a big body, spelling Josh, Dre and XJ will be invaluable the rest of the way!

This was my thought (minus the breaking his nose part, although....) Simba was good against Wofford. He shows flashes of being a great passer out of the low post, but he just has looked horrible the last few games. It could be a bit of an up and down season with him, but I think we have to ride him as our backup big because we're going to need him in the Pac-12.

I think he lacks aggression and the focus that beging aggressive provides. How many times has he needed to just grab a ball with authority and dare a defender to put his soon to be broken wrist between the ball and the rim? This is a guy that should be able to box out on either end of the court and provide solid fast break starting or foul producing dunk opportunities.

Quit being so darn timid!

Buffenuf is right: T-H played well when his nose was "altered". That seemed to focus his aggression.

Like our other Aussie, maybe he also has to unlearn some Bz coaching and just go at it!

SHT made me cringe, drop f-bombs and shake my head in disgust multiple times over the last 4 days, however I am going to give him a pass for what occurred in Charleston. He didn't play in Europe so I am going to give him a little time to gel playing with these guys. Nearly everybody he played with is new to him, (Stalzer, XJ, and talton). It look him a while to get anything going last year, hopefully by conference play he will be the guy we saw against UNLV.

Plus when he got the ball a couple times Booker wasn't on the court to cut. That bounce pass is his best move.

The key is to let him do what he does well which is take up space and bang against other big bodies while giving our more talented bigs a rest and avoid putting him in positions where he will hurt us by trying to do those things he doesn't do well like any kind of offensive ball handling other than grabbing an offensive rebound and attempting a put back.

jg is right in that SHT is behind the rest of the team in getting into season timing. He will never be better than a role player but his size and willingness to work while accepting his role make him valuable.
