I know I am keeping up a campaign of futility but here is my latest to MB, BB and PD.

Hi Mike,

First and foremost, the success of the basketball team is something we should all be proud of as CU fans and Alumni. I watched or listened to everyone of the games in Charelston and look forward to attending every home game this season via my season tickets. I am also in the planning phase of putting together a trip for a large number of Buff fans to attend the Pac 12 tournament in Las Vegas.

No onto a less pleasong topic, CU Football. As you know, I have been a season ticket holder since I was a freshman in 1985. I even kept my season tickets when I lived out of state knowing that I wanted to support the team and attend as many games as I could. I have progressively improved my seats and donation levels and now have 4 seats in 106. Unfortunately this will come to an end this year if I do not see some significant investment into the football program and this has gone way beyond the pipedream of enhanced facilities. At this point, I am left with nothing to believe in when it comes to the highest profile sport for the University of Colorado. Please tell us you have seen enough to make a wholesale change in the coaching staff. Jon Embree is setting this program back decades. He is a great Buff and deserves the respect of Buff Nation but he was put into a position for which is was not prepared nor capable of handling. In all aspects he has been an absolute failure. If I delivered these types of results in my profession, I would be sumarily fired. Here are some of his highlights:

  • 3 points in the last 8 quarters of football played in Boulder
  • 8 loses by more than 20 points this year
  • 6 loses by more than 30 points this year
  • 7 games where we have given up more than 40 points this year
  • 5 games where we have given up more than 50 pts this year
  • 4 games lost by more than 40 points this year
  • 15 loses by more than 20 pts the last two seasons
  • 10 loses by 30 or more points in the last 2 years
  • 13 games in the last two years we have given up 40 pts or more

A team that ranks dead last in every category in major college football. There is not progress and only regression in this team. Recruting is regressing and never met the expectations of this staff - we cannot even attract the top talent in CO let alone across the country. Fans are not coming to the games, just over 38K were at the game Saturday and it will be far worse this Friday (see the offer of free tickets). Season ticket sales will crater for next year as will parking revenue and concessions revenue. Merchande sales and licensing renvenues I would guess are heading South in a dramatic way.

In short, the CU brand is being destroyed and we have become the laughing stock of BCS football programs. The rebuilding process is going to take time I understand but keeping Jon and this staff are only going to prolong the process of righting the ship. Please take the action that is necessary and make the hard decisions you are entrusted with to put CU back on track for building a respectful college football program. I emplore you to do the right thing for Jon and this program. Replace the entire staff and put in place a thorough process for finding the next, qualified leader of the CU Football Program.

Sincerely,

Buffalo Brad

great letter, but I would suggest something to you if it matters. Don't get rid of your season tickets completely, but got down to a single ticket in the cheapest section possible in order to keep your priority points. I have four tixs right now and will go to only one next year.

Do you really think priority is going to matter if the school doesn't make any changes? I say dump everything if the school can't get their act together. Why give them a dime? Of course it is important to do what you think is best.

well written letter, let me know if this comes close to the actual response

thanks for your heartfelt note. we all have high expectations and are looking forward to competing and improving next year. we really need your support more than ever, please consider upping your donation or upgrading all your seats to club level.

go buffs!

well if he has had tickets since around 1990, then he would have over 100 priority points built into football alone, that is quite a bit to just throw away. What if he wants to get great seats for basketball? It would help to have priority points.

Hi Tante and great point. I have not decided what I am going to do next year but it will definitely not be 4. I may go down to 2. My points are pretty substantial and I do not really want to lose them but this **** has got to change. Either way, it will be substantially reduced.

"Dear Buffalo Brad: Thanks for reaching out on this subject. I appreciate your candor. We continue to work dilligently at making the necessary improvements to our football program. Don't give up on us yet! We need passionate fans like you to help turn this ship around.

M.B"

Long time reader but rare poster here.

This is exactly what I'm planning to do as well. I haven't lived in Colorado since graduating in '84. I've had season tickets since '89 and make virtually every home game from out-of-state. That's on top of most bowl games we've attentded, at least one away game each season and two or three spring games. And I've had enough.

Ultimately, the embarrassment which has become CU football belongs to Bruce Benson. We'll be taking giant steps backward on "soon-to-be-annouced" facility improvements that now won't materialize and token changes on the football staff at the end of this year will only set this program farther behind. So I'm giving up the two tickets I've had in Section 119 and dropping to one in the cheapest corner of Folsom I can find. Whether I actually attend a game next season is another question. This is killing me.

Thank God for Buff Basketball. Unfortunately, my love is for CU football and seven years of neglect and abuse, the last in particular, have about done me in.

Great letter, Brad.

I am convinced that the only thing that will change this is if protest is made from the folks that rent the suites.

35 of them are up for renewal this year.

I believe they are $50k each.

If they lose just 10 of them, that's $500,000 in lost revenue.

Great letter, but one constructive criticism... turn on your spell check.

BTW... I wrote one to him and to Jon yesterday stating my displeasure with their devaluation of tickets, given all of the special offers to put butts in seats over the last two weeks.

You are write, I went back anc lokked and it the speelling is horribbble.

Back on topic, you are right and I should have not sent it late last night and did not take the time to spell check it. Kind of diminishes the letter a bit. Also had a few drinks when I sent it. No excuses though.
