I've seen the $2MM number floated around on Allbuffs as a target new coaching salary. That would put us 40th on the list behind the likes of Wake Forest.

But it would give Paul Rhodes a nice little boost in addition to some improved scenery. Just sayin'...
 
I've posted links to this study before (data from this link only shows last year complete salary numbers). I also posted updates for this year's numbers. Our competitors who hired new coaches -- Arizona, ASU, Wazzu, UCLA -- all had nice bumps in total coach salaries. IMHO, the biggest barometer for our commitment to football is not just firing the current staff; it is how much we spend on the next staff. The numbers don't lie on this one.
