EB returns
Facilities are announced. Its not the full monty, but it's a good upgrade.
McCartney is announced as Football AD
Offense is spread/option (based on Oregon's)
Hagan announced as QB Coach (he knows that style of quarterbacking)

This is what I am feeling is the plan. The only problem they will have is the continued failure on the field and in recruiting. It becomes a more expensive disaster that has a shelf life of one season.

the only positive will be the facilities. The other pieces will get fired eventually.

anything but this. thanks.

what qbacking style does Hagan know?

the jittery interior speed of a triple option QB once LB's were doubled up and ran sideline to sideline?

and throw better than average for an option QB at 50% to usually one of two receivers....

i'll pass on that in today's game.

we all love Darian, but this can't be for real.

we all know the time is the past over. should have been before. Bohn saved his job getting the Mac donors on side for a nostalgia hire. pretty shrewd and Tad is making a case for MB when there was none.....

These guys couldn't install a style of offense that they have been running their whole careers and now they are going to install the spread?

This is going to be interesting. In a detached emotionless sort of way....

I would feel like i was getting kicked in the nuts all over again....and again and again. Not only would we be limiting our future we would be tarnishing our past at the same time.

The only way we win a game next season is if we have O/D Coordinators who essentially act as the head coaches for their respective units. The only guys who would be willing to take the jobs are likely guys who have just been fired as head coaches and who have no prospects for employment next season (and who feel like their next job will not be head coach somewhere). So they'll see it as a one year job to bide time until the stink of their firing wears off. If these guys are dynamic and allowed to coach, we may see a W-L improvement. Ideally it would be something like Tedford for OC and Chizik for DC. I don't see any other scenario where the dumpster fire doesn't continue.

BFD. The ship has sailed. It is showing in the inability to recruit. You can either recruit or coach in CFB. If you can do one of the two, you'll win more than you lose (i.e. Mack Brown) If you can do both, you'll be very successful (i.e. Saban). Embo cannot do either.

How about Kordell Stewart as QB coach?

Are they going to bring back Ashley Ambrose as the DB coach?

Surely there are some other former Buffs / former Buff coaches who can be brought back to get the whole gang back together.

Would be an epic disaster and a complete victory for the buffs4life cabal. And a complete abdication by Bohn. Inmates running the asylum. Is this basically McCartney acting as de facto head coach like he wanted to do to 2 years ago so he could "mentor" eb and je?

Wow jus wow

Yeah, as soon as I saw this my first thought is its something that is being floated as a trial balloon. Here is what I posted over there about my questions on what the vision is for this new Director of Football operations:

Can someone please explain to me what the vision is for the responsibilities of a "Director of Football Operations?" Serious question...it seems like this should be stuff that is the responsibility of the AD. Is it scheduling, marketing, running the recruiting department? Is it to take a bunch of administrative BS that is required at CU off the head coaches plate? If that is what it is I'd want to know why the answer isn't just to eliminate the red tape rather then to add cost and another level of bureaucracy. Is it supposed to be someone who can provide X's and O's advice to the coach? If so why not just hire a coach who doesn't need the advice?

Who then makes the decisions regarding hiring, firing, and budget? If those powers are removed from the AD for the football program then what is the point of the AD? If there is no power over football for the AD, how is the AD supposed to balance the budget and utilization of resources between different programs? Who does the Director report to.

Is this sort of organizational model in use as a best practice at other institutions we are trying to emulate, or is it a result of a disagreement /power struggle over the direction of the football program? Is this the recommendation of the consultants they brought in?

If I were the DiStephano (well I'd do a lo of things differently) I'd have A LOT of questions on how this is supposed to work and why it's necessary. If Bohn is on-board with this plan and they have a clearly delineated set of responsibilities for the position and org chart, and its working at other schools then maybe this is the way to go. If this is a result of a split between various stakeholders who are just trying to cut Bohn out of the decision making process for anything related to football then things are more disfunctional in the AD and the administration than we thought and I don't see how this could help in the long run. I don't see the point of an AD with no power of the most imporatant program in the department.

Please note that these are questions...we really have no idea what the responsibilities of the position are supposed to be, so I'm trying not to jump to conclusions.

FWIW this is the second place where I've seen mention of Hagan moving back to a coaching position, so I'm not going to be surprised if that happens, though who knows what position it will be.

Anything that involves Embree and Bienemy on the sideline next season is a failure. They must both be gone and immediately. The end.

Ummm, you lost me with Embree returns.

The only decent thing out of that might be the facilities.

I have zero faith in Embree & EB to stick with an offensive identity for more than 2 quarters. And if they somehow do stick with it, all we'll hear is how more years are needed to recruit to the spread/option system and Mac will be more than willing to wait and will ignore results on the field. And no thanks to Hagan, all we need is yet another CU Buff (back) on the coaching staff. As if not having enough Buffs has been the problem all along...

I'm 100% done with this **** if they take this approach to "fix" the issues with the program.
