Local Media Coverage of firing/hiring - (was: Joel Klatt is having a meltdown)

Why would he get on Embree? Fair question seeing how influential he and his buddies were in getting him the job.

Dude acts like he won a Heisman at CU

Saddened for Jon Embree! In the last 7 years there are only a few constants!! You make the connection

@happypappy3434 are you stupid? I never said BOO about Dan Hawkins until the middle of his 3rd season...get a grip

@happypappy3434 again dude...I didn't say a word about Dan Hawkins until the middle of year 3...so why would I get on Embree after 2???

@VicLombardi Bob Stoops had no HC experience before OU

ENJOY

Um, perhaps because Hawkins actually showed improvement in year 2???

Agreed. And even in Year 3 where I was critical about Hawk, the team had a bunch of injuries that cost that team a bowl bid. We were nowhere close to competing for a bowl under Embree. Klatt as usual is misinformed about the situation just like the rest of the clowns on the radio that played for the Buffs.

This decision was, really, the only decision that could be made. Embree likely wanted to bring his pals back. That was not going to work.

That is a great observation. The tone of authority he uses is incongruent with his resume. He's not Steve Young or Troy Aikman.

I remember when Klatt first got a radio host spot, he would spout off about *winning* "three B12 North championships", as if that were the pinnacle of the CU football history.

Klatt rode the coattails of CU's tradition and history, he did not establish it

Embo had a tough job coaching CU. The team lack of overall depth and talent will be a concern for the next coach. The mistake he made was the hiring of EB and Brown. Difficult to fully judge a 2nd year coach in the current CU football climate. So I do understand where Joel Klatt is coming from. But Embo had to go, I can stomach a loss if the team was competing, getting better.

Klatt just told me that Hawk only had the success he had in year 2 because of Barnett's leftovers. I asked him why Hawk only won 2 games in his first year. The answer? Because he didn't start Brian White. 6 wins if he starts Brian White so Klatt claims

OMG ... I actually agree with you on something. Hiring two inexperienced coordinators while being an inexperienced HC wasn't wise.

Brian White?!

I would have liked to see what he can do, but if I remember White quit the team in the middle of the year, didn't he?

Cody Hawkins, Scotty McKnight, Josh Smith, Ryan Miller, and Kai Maiava would disagree about that 2007 season.

Wasn't B.Jackson one of Barnett's leftovers?

I'de probably agree on that, as bad as some of our quarterbacks have been the last few years that year I don't think we actually had a qb. Outside the first play of the season I don't think we threw another pass for more than 3 yards.
