Jon + Moving Forward-this is not Halk 2.0

I am quite disappointed with the quotes from Jon and even from some media implying race or other factors were involved and that CU has never fired a coach after just 2 years.

We all know the statistics and the performance. This team underperformed, was not getting better, and in fact was statistically the worst team in all of Div. 1 football this year. We all know this was a rebuilding project but noone expected it to be this bad.

And Embree himself, after spending a year in the program, made a public goal of getting to a bowl game this year. That means he assessed his staff and his players and felt they could make a bowl game. How far off was he? We became the laughing stock in college football.

So Bohn did the right thing.

But now that we have that behind us, I suggest we move on from this, here on AB and in general as Buff fans.

I'd rather we not treat this the way we did with Halk when many of us ridiculed Halk, his son, etc.

It's over. JE was a terrible HC but has always been a great Buff. Someone else on AB said this perfectly last night: JE didn't really get the time he should have to rebuild the program but he had enough time to prove he was not the right one to do so.

Onward and upward Buffs and good luck JE on whatever your next move is. I for one will not mention your name in a negative way in any future posts. I hope other ABers share my sentiment.

My thoughts exactly.

I do not believe that this failure is his alone.

Agreed. I still very much like and respect Embree. Hell, I even dislike Hawkins a little less now. Let's just move forward with a commitment to excellence for Colorado Football.

Sorry! The man had to go, This year's team showed absolutely NO improvement in all the l things that make progress certain and Embree showed only stubborness and an unwillingness to learn and correct his mistakes.

Exhibit A is the QB situation. Bringing in a transfer on the word of your son and forcing him to play over the guys already here, set the wrong tone from the very beginning. Early word out of the lockerroom was Hirschman had the players' confidence, but Embo continued to cram Webb down everyone's throat, even when Webb was injured! Stubborness in a HC trying to grow a program, is not an acceptable trait! And there was no sign that Embo was learning or changing; just the same old "drive our heads into a brickwall" mentality. Bellichek can afford to be stubborn, not Embo!

Exhibit B is cramming the pro-style offense down, when you don't have the time and players to make it work.

Exhibit C is game day coaching, no fire or emotion---that can be expected from pro coachs who expect their "mercenaries" to self-motivate(based on next week's paycheck) but college kids need to be fired up. And play-calling on both sides of the ball waaas atrocious! No imagination on either side of the ball. Did CU blitz more that a half dozen times all year? Did they ever create confusion for even a split second on defense, except among their own kids? With all that youth why not try something different? What? Were they gonna lose worse? Finally, the last special teams' call in the Utah game: You get some fire and momentum from the KO return TD; you're faced with one of the best KO return guys nationally on the ensuing KO; so what did Embo do? Kicked it right to him! Bonehead play of the year and all too symptomatic of the lack of growth on the part of the HC and staff. Won't even mention that the talented, highly recruited DBs were never allowed to actually try and shut down anybody: always playing zone or giving 7 yd. cushions to opposing WRs. What? Were they gonna lose worse?

No growth, no promise of improvement---the team actually got worse as the season progressed!--- nothing to look forward to, both of which were leading to a huge decline in season tix sales. Time to cut losses and move ahead!
