CU made 2.5m less on tickets during this season compared to last

The budge for this football hire is "significantly" higher than 2 years ago

Bohn: Coaching budget will be significantly Different" than when Embree was hired

per reed marks on twitter
Per AD Mike Bohn, there is a "significant difference" in the budget for the next head coach in comparison to Embree's pay. #cubuffs

That # is significantly higher ($ lost) than I had calculated a few days ago. It sure goes to explain how Bohn got his bosses to agree to firing Embree. That lost $ = the payout of JE and EB. And next year's ticket sales (plus concession and merchandise and lost donations) would have been significantly worse.

Sounds like that may be helping the cause to raise the salary this time around. Personally I hope they offer a base around $1-2m but offer all kinds of incentives tied to performance. (tied to wins, bowls, conference standings, student GPA, etc.)

If you are a good coach and you believe in your system and the people you will hire around you, you like having the upside potential that is even higher than maybe at a top football school.

Not surprising. Seven years of decline is not gonna spur sales. compared to whats probably happening with tickets at the Coors Events Center...

I'm not buying the ticket sales number. No way. What is $2,500,000 divided by, say, going conservative, $100 per ticket? 25,000 fans? I pay $60 a ticket. That would almost double the number to around 40,000 fans. Bull **** on that. That is why I don't like Bohn. He is a bullshitter.

DBT, there aren´t only general admission seats, but suites etc. and everything that comes with that.

Maybe I'm off here, but why is 40k fewer full priced tickets for the season (7 games) not realistic? That's only around 5000-6000 fewer per game, and I think we can all agree that might be on the low side of things.

25,000 fans divided by 6 games, that's only about 4,000 fewer tickets per game. I don't think the number is bull****. It seems surprisingly dead on to me.

Especially when you count the number of discounted/give away tickets that padded the attendance numbers. It's not hard at all to believe that there were 40,000 or more fewer tickets sold over the course of the season.

my seat it just under $29.00 per game -

There are a lot of good reasons for this move.

But although it's not about the money, it's about the money. Revenues were tanking and donations were in serious jeopardy. Even a winning coach can't survive that.

not to mention a certain facilities project was getting submarined.

Please, DBT read what Bohn actually said, not what some AB "expert" believes he thought he heard Bohn say!

I still cant find any, ya know....actual quote that says tix sales were off that much in a single year. But I can believe there was a significant threat to that revenue stream from keeping Embree after his 2012 team was one of the worst college teams of all time, with little or no prospect for improvement.

How's things in West Arvada?

Did you see the amount of empty seats?

I'd love to see how Bohn defines "significant." To me, paying an average salary for a FBS coaching staff is not the same as paying the average salary of a top 35 FBS coaching staff, although either would represent a "significant" increase.
