Mark Mangino as Buffs OC?

First of all I think EB probably already made that type of threat. Secondly, there can't be many worse than EB as an OC. You were great on the field EB, I'm sorry it didn't work out coaching.

I would be beyond shocked if Mangino were ever to be part of a CU football coaching staff.

The thought intrigues me, actually. I have always found it funny to poke fun at Mangina, but if you look at his coaching resume, it's pretty damn impressive. He comes from the Snyder/Stoops coaching tree. He knows good football. I don't think he'd be a particularly good hire as head coach, but as an OC - yeah, I'd totally support that. And then I'd buy stock in Big City Burrito.

If the new HC wants Mangino as an offensivie coordinator, I am fine with that. Otherwise I simply cannot look at the man without feeling revulsion, and not want him anywhere near Colorado sidelines. I have no respect for somebody who cannot deal with a very serious weight problem.

If Doeren is our new HC, Mangino as his OC makes a lot of sense. Doeren was hired at KU in 2002 when Mangino came in there as HC. They've worked together to build a program up before and have a relationship.

Can you imagine his fat ass hoofing it up the hill from the practice field to Dal Ward? Would a HoverRound be part of the compensation package?

The weight jokes are going to follow the guy forever. That's why I wouldn't be in favor of him as HC. Still, you can't deny that the guy knows football. He has a very sharp football mind, and a very dull body.

We would be lucky to have him as an OC. Unlucky to have him as a HC though.

Were you in chat last night?
I wish I could remember who to give credit to - I need to deliver some rep, but for those who weren't there and want to share in some of the laughs, the best comment was something like this:
Mangino as OC - that would be mean our facilities upgrade is guaranteed, as there's no way the current press box can hold both Plati and Mangino.

Maybe this is what we need to get the indoor practice field built. We can't have our coaches dying while walking the hill.

Nik, are you trying to imply to everyone that Doeren will be the next CU coach? Those KU connections within the CU AD have done well with basketball...maybe Bohn is trying to repeat that Jayhawk magic or whatever.

If a guy wants to be not fat, moving to Boulder and walking up that hill would be a good start.

It wouldn't surprise me.

Here's the problem with Mangino as HC - the sidelines at Folsom. Those stands are just way too close. There's no way he could walk the sidelines and not be on the field.

The entire reason why we're looking at Mangino is because Webb is here. He's obviously a player to build our program around...

Every time I see this guy, I think of a video we used to watch while I was deployed, "The Don of Ghaz Main":

Oh perfect! He can pick up, where he left off: berating a KU kid.

Beats being eaten by that coach!

The man can coach for real. Mangino was on that 2000 National Championship team in Norman as the OC then when I watched his KU teams, those teams reminded me of that 2000 National Championship team. Funny that the least talented team of Bob Stoops' regime in Norman is the team that won his only national championship in Norman.

Dply post the picture of his daughter, but put in CU OC Head Job!

But seriously, only if the new HC wants him to be a part of his staff. We will only fail if we choose the new HC staff for him or tell the runner up candidate you have a job on the staff regardless.
