ACC is a basketball conference. If this happens it just proofs that the ACC wants to focus more on basketball. I personally cannot fathom why you would pick UCONN over BC if you are focused on the revenue sport, ie football. ESPN had a piece just today that was espousing how so many NFL guys are throwing their name in the hat for the BC HC opening.

True, and it wouldn't be a stretch to say that college hockey is bigger in Boston than college football is.

Not a stretch at all. I spent two years in Boston, and was shocked by how little attention college football got.

If the ACC ran off Boston College for UConn purely because it was a basketball move, you would find Florida State and Clemson on the first bus ride to the Big XII.

BC being in the ACC is a joke. The fans of the ACC schools bitched at Swofford for it in 2005, and if anything, it's been even more clear what a complete lack of a fanbase BC has (and how much their programs are struggling).

I always thought the BC invite was odd. Would be pretty messed up if they kicked them out.

It is just as likely that the ACC would lose another member to SEC/Big Ten/Big 12 than they would just flat out kick BC out. So, UConn is a good bet to be their next target.

I think the Louisville invite was just as much about taking away the Big 12's next best expansion option as it was to upgrade ACC football when Maryland left. UConn will always be there waiting for the ACC, but nobody else is going to go after them so time is on ACC's side if they want UConn eventually.
