Official 2012 Colorado Coach Search Rumor Compendium - Waiting for the RB Coach

I don't get why macintyre isnt on the short list. What he has done is far more impressive than deruyter and butch jones. Have people forgotten how pathetic sjsu was? And look at the huge improvement in their recruiting now. The guy can rebuild a bad program and has the resume to prove it unlike deruyter or jones.

Might get flamed for this but I read on Volnation that Fulmer has been talking to possible assistant coaches about assembling a staff and CU is rumored in that conversation. I've got no proof or inside sources just some speculations read on another forum. Personally if he can surround himself with a quality staff, the man can recruit with the best of them.

I´ll have to finally get around to reading On Rocky Top if that happens.

SJSU is about as small time as they come which may give some people (myself included) some pause.

Also the thought of hiring another "Coach Mac" just might be too hard to handle right now.

MacIntyre and Anderson were the two most qualified coaches when it comes to ability to turn a program around. Anderson isn't leaving, so that leaves MacIntyre.

I'm not so sure we need a full rebuild. Embree brought in some very good players. We are really only a decent QB and better coordinating away from being a 5 win team. Now if you "rebuilding" is considered getting to 9 or 10 wins than yes we are still about 5 or 6 more athletes away from being there.

Whatever coach comes in next year is going to win 3 to 5 games in my opinion. As long as the kids Embree recruited stick around.

The more I read about Mendenhall, the more I like him. Great Defensive Coordinator with head coaching experience. BYU was slidding down hill, 3 losing season, before he took over. Has done very well at BYU, winning 5 out of last 6 bowl games. Really like the idea of bringing in a great defensive minded HC and adding a top OC. Stitt is the Buzz name, but I would really be excited to see Mendenhall teamed with McCall from Northwestern.

Funny you mention McCall. Last night a buddy of mine, who is a huge Northwestern fan, asked if there was any chatter about McCall on our end. When I said "no, why?", he responded that their interblogs are ablaze with McCall "probably" headed to CU. I haven't personally read any of this myself, but thought that was interesting.

As for "DavisBuff", like Davis, CA?

I'm as big a proponent of MacIntyre as you are. Though what is appealing about Deruyter for me is that he does have a history of turning around defenses pretty dramatically, if not programs as a whole. The 3-4 is appealing to me as well with Deruyter. I don't think we go wrong with either

rumors guys, rumors, discuss elsewhere - don't make the mods do work!

First despite lots of worries that Jones is already sold on Purdue, and he arrived there today. Someone caught it on video! (follow link)

However, looks like he's still in play:

Butch Jones is in route back to Cinnci. CONFIRMED. Now back to#Broncos and my "free" time.
AND as far as totals go:
Reed Marks ‏@reedmarks
I have heard that #CU will have over $5mm to offer HC and staff.

Who is Reed Marks?

Who is Reed Marks?
booster/radio personality with connections. He's being very open on twitter.

Also confirmed by both Rivals and 247 is that Bohn had a very productive meeting with the team and is involving the players:
Bohn is allowing input from four players - freshman Shane Dillon, sophomore Tyler McCulloch, junior Paul Richardson and senior David Bakhtiari - as they were selected by the team to represent them during the coaching search. However, after outside influences helped him make his last two football coaching hires, you can bet in the end, this will be Bohn's call. And his call only.

Update on Jones: Random Respected Internet Poster tacojuan has posted on 247 that Jones is en route to Boulder (arrival today) for an interview. He also suggests that Bohn will be laying out hte facilities plan and other administrative commitments during the interview; finally he suggests that the 4 players listed above will only be allowed to write letters to the potential coach. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but maybe the real meaning was lost in translation.

In a correlating report; respected random internet poster Lefthandbuff at Rivals posted admin officials expect to meet "someone" tonight or early tomorrow.

Another item I heard about: a small group of players were selected (mostly if not all starters) to write letters to their new coach. These will be given to Jones and any other coach who interviews for the job (if any).
I read that as in addition to the 4 players talking with prospective coaches, not in replacement to that activity.

From SD at Rivals as well.

As Adam posted on Friday, CU will be working with Nike on a new look and the team will have a lot of input. Its quite possible we will be looking a lot like Oregon or Okie Lite with a number of different uniform combinations. This is just my guess, but think that will be fluid while working through the options. Embree was fairly adamant sticking with a traditional look. This is polarizing for many, I always liked the traditional look but have come around recently to whatever gets the kids excited is fine with me.

Team felt they didn't have a lot of "swag" apparel, jackets, etc. That won't be an issue much longer as it sounds like Bohn is taking care of it.

Would love both of those. Also sounds like the players are getting over the firing and moral is getting better.

Reed marks and G the producer reporting on twitter that Cincy has stepped up and offered butch jones an extension (which is a surprise because he it one just last year) - let the bidding war begin

@adamcm777: Butch Jones was scheduled to arrive at Rocky Mountain Metro Airport at 9:14 am... his flight has been delayed an hour: http://t.co/5cLIU030

Re: DeRuyter -
Reed Marks ‏@reedmarks
@highsierra86 I believe there is "mutual interest" but nothing has been scheduled yet. Butch Jones is the first choice.

according to a Random Internet Poster at 247 - Jones is due soon
Rocky Mountain Metro at 10:15 this morning via a Citation X.

Too bad this awful Colorado winter is waiting to greet him :smile2:

and damn, that's a nice plane - check out the interior

Interior-Citation-X.jpg

Nice plane, we're basically borrowing it from a donor right? FlightAware now says 10:29am. Had to take a slight detour south

It is an XOJet owned airplane. They are a fractional share/charter operator. CU doesn't own any airplanes that I know of unlike some schools.

In the most ridiculous update of the day, Butch Jones, according to Flight Tracker, is now in Colorado with his wife in tow. How soon will he leave?
