More info:

  • Washington DC Justin "Wilcox is a possibility" (regarding potential Defensive Coordinator) - @reedmarks
  • New uniforms will be extensive and multiple - including multiple helmets - "I would expect OkieLite style uniform selection." @reedmarks (not necessarily new, but definitely fleshing out the rumors)

Not sure I like the uniform shenanigans, but I'm on board with Jones as the coach. Go get em, coach!

As long as they keep Ralphie on there, I can handle any changes. Give us the Oregon helmets (which might be cool in gold), JUST KEEP RALPHIE.

+1

The Ralphie logo is one of the most recognizable in sports. They can tinker with the uniforms, but keep that logo prominent.

A Oregon style helmet with horns on it could look awesome but I agree.

Our uniforms are perfect right now, but I guess I'd be ok with a couple of alternates with matte helmets and all black or something like that.

I have been a long traditionalist for uniforms, but I think some respectable variations could be cool. A graphite or silver helmet or pants/ who knows. Not Maryland crazy, but truth is, the Oregon thing has grown on me.

I think I've gotten to the point of resignation with the uniform issue. I don't think they need to be changed one bit. I think they are absolutely perfect the way they are. However, if it means winning games, I really don't care what they're wearing.

Look, I love to hate on trendy uniforms as much as anyone (I ****ing hate silly assed uniforms trends).

But I can put that aside for the first bullet point. ****in Coach Wilcox is MUCH bigger news than uniforms. That.Would.Be.Awesome!

Honestly, it's time to just join the 21st century across the board. We learned our lesson. I love the uniforms, but if moving away from circa 1990 is what helps us land the recruits, then do it.

That's being discussed in the Wilcox thread though.

The thing is that our uniforms can't be bucketed as just being "circa 1990". Look at alabama, oklahoma, notre dame, etc... They all have classic templates but they still look really good and then once in a while they do a variation that the kids love. I think we should follow that pattern.

I think the unis are a must! That was the first mis-step from the Embree regime. OK to have a "throwback" game, but kids don't care about a retro uniform that is so bland from an era before they were born.

I love the carbon fiber patter and matte black idea.

Would also love to see some Vegas gold again.

I can't believe Nike bought all those vegas gold jerseys and black helmets for one game.

Worse, the retro from the Wyoming game were also worn just once, and the game wasn't even televised.

The throwback helmet from the Wyoming game a couple years back was cool as well.

Those are also blue blood programs. We are not

Am I the only one who's not a fan of the black helmet that we wore the last two years?

I completely disagree with this. There's nothing bland about them. They look great and actually have decent design as opposed to Maryland and those schools are doing.

BTW, I'm 24 years old, not some old guy that can't get over the past.

A blend of classic but updated unis (which we already have), and 1 or 2 games of something special is the perfect balance.

It's different, because we switched away, slightly under Barnett, and then in mustard-land under Hawkins. The programs you mentioned changed hardly anything for decade after decade (although even Notre Dame started going XTREME for special occasions this year). Again, love the uniforms, but *if* changes give us a boost in recruiting, then do it. Also have to admit that given the recent pile of humiliating losses in these uniforms, they've left a bit of a bad taste

I get your point, I just don't think we should have ever switched away. The 1990 uni's, design-wise, are awesome. Just need to tweak them.
