Tennessee offers Gundy per CBS

ESPN reporting that Strong will likely remain at Louisville. Makes sense to me. He's building something there and they're moving to the ACC. I have no clue who Tenn will end up with. It's a big time job despite recent struggles.

I'm hearing different things from people here. This is following a similar pattern to when Les Miles left. Miles and Boone had a tiff about the new turf. Miles was forced to take Gundy as the new OC. Miles got tired of interference from people who weren't his boss. So he left. Gundy situation is pretty similar. He is the boy who grew up in the program as a player and is now a coach, but may not be appreciated because he is homegrown. He is at Okie State one year more - maybe. I know that people here think they could never afford Gundy, but now is the one window of opportunity to get him. Next year he may be at Texas after Mack is forced out.

Pay attention to this post because the Gundy info is dead on. He was close to going to both Tennessee and Arkansas. Last season he tried to get to Texas A&M and two years ago he sent out behind-the-back feelers to Miami. The Pickens (and AD Mike Holder) deal is oppressive -- ala Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys. Gundy feels like he isn't getting due credit for making OSU a consistent winner, while Holder and Pickens feel like they could put ANYONE in the position and they could do well because of the money/facilities in place on campus.

It's a wild deal but so many bridges have been torched that Gundy probably goes somewhere within two years. Remember, this was his dream job. It would be like someone like Joel Klatt coming here and leaving.

Gundy unfortunately neglects to see he's only a consistent loser to OU, as most programs are. I think Gundy's most attractive features are only illustrated in his own head.

Pickens sighs, opens up the checkbook.

I dont think that is the case on this. There is real tension.

Boone is an ultimate alpha dog and didn't become a rich and powerful man by just going along to get along. He was a ruthless raider as a businessman and he is an alum who doesn't give a gift and then hang back and watch. He has massive influence and everyone knows who the boss is at Okie State. His name is on the stadium. Gundy was handpicked and has been a good team player until now. You can only get your ass chewed by an alum so many times before you ask if coaching at your alma mater is really worth it. Word is that Boone was very bent out of shape that Texas and OU barely beat the Cowboys and in no uncertain terms let Gundy know. Gundy has talked to other team ADs before, but people in the know thought it may have been a courtesy type situation. Doesn't hurt to listen.

A year from now I don't think Gundy will be in Stillwater. And when he does leave I would love to see him in Boulder. But, that is a Christmas wish that is pretty far-fetched, huh? I would hope that Bohn at least gives his agent a call. Asking the pretty girl on a date sometimes works. She was just waiting for an inviatation

My favorite part of all this is how T. Boone got on the phone and CALLED GUNDY after the Baylor loss and chewed Gundy's ass about losing to Baylor.

I heard the same thing. He unloaded about the whole season in that call

He's in his mid-80s and wants to see a title before he passes. With his time constraints I can certainly understand his position.
