Mike Stoops or Dirk Koetter?

Both have BCS HC and Pac experience. I know Koetter was interested last time around. Both have recruiting ties in the West.

CU could do worse. Not wild about either but Koetter was over .500 and four bowl games in six years at ASU...seriously, tell me you wouldn't take that now.

Wow. State of Arizona should be thankful for what both these two left them. Arizona = Colorado when Mike Stoops took over. Rich Rod has said many times how he was amazed at what Mike Stoops left him and how he was grateful for them not burning RS's etc. Dykes and Kingsbury both coached there too. Koetter is well respected for X's and O's but wasn't great kissing *****. Ask Boise St. fans who they would want back if CP left. Most would suggest Dirk, IMO.

Come on people, they have a track record. We'd know what we are getting.

Either one would be a huge yawn and a "meh". I'd much rather have MacIntyre or Deruyter first.

Stoops couldn't cut it at Arizona.

Let me refresh memories about his defense at Oklahoma

Why? I'm not a fan of Stoops, but Koetter has experience coaching and recruiting in the Pac-12 and is currently the OC for the team with the best record in the NFL. We have no idea what we'd be getting with MacIntyre or Deruyter. With Dirk, I think we can expect six wins almost every year after the first year.

Look, you must not follow CU much, because no sane Buff fan would suggest Koetter. He was marginally more "successful" at ASU than Hawk was at CU (meaning, instead of usually winning 3-5 games, he often won 4-6.. in a weaker conference at the time). We're obviously not going to hire a Boise guy with Hawk so fresh in our memories.

If you think Stoops or Koetter are legit candidates, eat a snickers then come back.

Per Falcons, success might have something to do with Ryan, Jones, White, Turner, Gonzales... he didn't recruit these guys to ATL. He inherited a beast of a team.

Again, **** Boise ****ing State and anyone from there. 3 for 3 on failed head coaches from there.
3 for 3? Who are the other two failures? Dirk was above .500, four bowls in six years winning two of those bowls, and routinely beat in state rival AZ. Didn't set the world on fire but failure is a little unfair.

Nutt did OK at Arky. He was up and down but had a 10 win seasons, eight bowls in ten years and 61% winning percentage. He flamed out after a decent start at Ole Miss (24-26), but again, failure?

You should also look at how WVU did against LSU in 2011. Maybe pull some stats from MacIntyre at Duke as DC or DeRuyter at A$M as DC. I think every coach is going to have some bad games on their resume.
How about Nick Saban vs. Utah in the Sugar Bowl?

Don't think they're realistic candidates and Koetter isn't close to my first choice even now, but I'd take Koetter over unproven HCs from SJSU and Fresno. His last five years at ASU he went 36-27, made four bowl trips and finished in the bottom half of the Pac-10 only once. I'd say that is a substantial improvement from where we are right now and significantly better than Hawk did at CU.

Per Gold's final statement, it can be made against any coach of a good NFL team. Jack Del Rio's success is based solely upon V. Miller, Champ, et. al. Gary Kubiak's success is based solely upon Schaub, Foster, et al.

Regardless, I don't like advocating for a coach I don't really want, but am simply stating I would take Koetter over either of the two old guys from glorified community colleges in California.

Exactly. DeRuyter and MacIntyre may end up being great, but they look a lot like Hawk 2.0 (Successful in the bush, unknown in the bigs)
