Tressel....

ill take him......we are not going to bowl next year anyway......take the sanctions......better than what Petrino was fired for

I know that Tressel turned a blind-eye to some kids selling school appropriated items, but is that so awful that we shouldn't consider him given our situation? Guy is a winner, and I think we should be capable of determining whether or not he's learned for the better through the interview process. This hire would actually have some name recognition. I say we roll the dice on him.

So he's worth our admin going, hat in hand, to explain to the NCAA why we MUST hire Tressel and why hiring Tressel is in the best interests of the university over any other coach out there?

He's worth the 5 year bowl ban that will ensue the first time we get caught letting a walk-on eat at the training table for free?

Go learn about show cause, THEN come talk about giving Tressel a second chance.

Ain't gonna happen, don't even bother to think about it.

Tressel is a cheat, and a big budget cheat at that. He didn't just cheat at tOSU, he got Youngstown nailed big time as well.

We can't afford him in many more ways than financially and we aren't "big-time" enough for his taste.

We should be able to provide a sound cause argument and get his sanctions lifted. "Worst football program in D1. In desperate need of resurrection. Not sure if Jesus himself can help anymore."

I would rather have Embree back than have a cheat like Tressel.

Tressel wouldn't touch this job with a 30 foot pole. Why are you people so embarrassingly delusional?

"Hire Tressel, who cares about the NCAA" the ignorance this sentiment shows is staggering.

What does the "show-cause" clause actually mean?

It means the NCAA, that body that is well known for treating CU very fairly, has announced that they will assume anyone who hires Tressel is guilty, and require them to "prove" their innocence every year. Not "innocent before proven guilty" but "guilty until proven innocent." Every year the school would have to go the the NCAA and "show cause" as to why the NCAA should not punish them.

It's basically an announcement that they are going to severely punish any school that hires him for any missteps anywhere in the entire program. We need to stay the hell away from that.

i'm wondering if we are going to have to institute an IQ test before we allow people to start threads.

tressel is about as likely as my dog becoming the next CU head coach.

Frankly I think that show cause designation is a lawsuit waiting to happen if Tressel wanted to press the issue. He wasn't an employee of the NCAA, and wasn't fired by the NCAA, and I don't see how the NCAA has legal grounds to blackball someone from their profession.

Early in the process I looked up exactly what Tressel did. Not only did he turn a blind eye to the kids selling stuff, but academic fraud = non-starter.

He didn't just "turn a blind eye" either. More often than not, he acted as the middle man, introducing students to boosters. The misconception that he just pretended stuff wasn't happening is false.

How much experience does your dog have?
