I've left Solich messages over the past two weeks letting him know I wanted to ask him some of these questions. He hasn't called back.

I think he should.

Who the **** is Kyle Ringo to George Solich?

Thanks Kyle. I'm sure Solich will appreciate the article calling him out publicly, and he'll get back to you shortly.

Is he really calling Solich out? Man. Just stay out of it Ringo. I hate it when writers decide they should be part of the story.

Solich hasn't returned any of my calls either dammit!

After the way the Denver Post botched the Butch "hiring", and how bad the local columnists and "Buff" talk show hosts drag CU through the mud, Ringo thinks a guy who owes the local media absolutely zero should open up? Man these journalists are all kinds of dumb. Hey Solich, you don't owe these hacks squat. Do what you need to do.

Butt hurt is a great description. I just read the article before coming over here and I was laughing at Ringo while shaking my head.

Man how I miss Neil. I never thought i would say that, but Ringo has to be the dumbest most self serving idiot of a reporter ever to grace a piece of paper.

I love the comment section at the bottom of his column... Kyle is not getting much love from his adoring fans

It's funny how Ringo and his fellow journalists at the Daily Camera spent the entire week after Embree was fired absolutely crucifying CU and the athletic department.

Now he wants CU to play nice and spill a bunch of information??

Go **** yourself Ringo!!!

this is exactly what I was saying too! He was pounding Bohn and the admin like he was an Embree stooge and that he expected some sort of triumphant Embree return. When he should have been doing just the opposite. I think a lot of this comes from the fact that time and time again Ringo guaranteed Embree would be back only to look like the clown face he is when they fired him.

Ringo isn't a columnist, is he? Isn't he just a reporter?

He should be REPORTING the news, not trying to manufacture news.

You guys are funny. So Ringo wants to talk to the guy who has a ton of influence. and "calling out" solich? The guy plays a pivotal role in shaping our AD, so it's hard to say he was this mysterious, elusive figure. So Ringo wants to talk, so what?

Every time you guys rag on journalists I just shake my head. I remember months/years ago people bitching about "our media guys never ask any hard questions! I wish they'd grow a spine!" to a few weeks ago being "Why are those so-called journalists asking such tough questions! It makes our university look bad!"

How about you guys sit down and figure out what you want out of your local media and then come up with some coherent, non-dichotomous conclusion.

And let me mention that I am differentiating your traditional media from your former players and such that happen to have microphones as part of their jobs.

You don't make any sense. We wanted tough question asked, because NOBODY was asking them when they should have been coming fast and furious. Now when the reporters want to ask tough questions, the powers that be say thanks but no thanks. Plus, nobody has a problem with Ringo wanting to ask Solich questions, we are laughing at the fact that the article comes across as really whiney. Ringo: "Call me maybe?"

We want to hear the tough, fair questions. For instance, when Embree is asked what happened during the game that resulted in getting blown out I'd like some follow-up to an "I don't know" answer.

But Ringo has been grinding axes on twitter for the past few weeks. He can't play that game and think that when he writes for the newspaper that readers won't filter it through that lens.

This was clearly a case of someone who wanted to write a particular article, couldn't get the sources together to write said article, and then went ahead with the article anyway while calling out people for refusing to be a source for him.

It's bush league journalism from a guy who has poisoned the well from which he has to drink and is now lashing out. Since Ringo has clearly expressed an agenda that is opposed to the folks working in the AD or the CU administration, why would anyone there give him anything?

Right, so how is this the reporters' problem? They want answers now, yet are getting stonewalled. So be it.

Plus, nobody has a problem with Ringo wanting to ask Solich questions, we are laughing at the fact that the article comes across as really whiney. Ringo: "Call me maybe?"

Perhaps his method is a bit odd, but it gets the point across. I mean, there's now a discussion about it.

You know the stupidest thing about this article?

Ringo wants to see Mike Bohn fired. The clearest path for that to happen would be if Solich decided that Bohn wasn't the right guy to get the job done for CU Football. Yet Ringo writes this article. I'm starting to think that Kyle is kinda dumb.

True, but when a coach and his team is getting its ass kicked continually, the coach generally and most likely genuinely doesn't know what is going wrong. It's hard to press a coach on it without him losing his ****, most likely. Gotta walk that fine line. I also think when a coach says "I don't know" so many times, well, that speaks volumes too.

This was clearly a case of someone who wanted to write a particular article, couldn't get the sources together to write said article, and then went ahead with the article anyway while calling out people for refusing to be a source for him.

Yes, he wanted to write the article, and he wrote the article he could. Here, it seems he's saying "here's this very influential person that you readers should know about. I tried talking with him, but he's not having it. Just a little FYI, take it how you will."

It's bush league journalism from a guy who has poisoned the well from which he has to drink and is now lashing out. Since Ringo has clearly expressed an agenda that is opposed to the folks working in the AD or the CU administration, why would anyone there give him anything?

At least regarding your last sentence, I'm sure Ringo knows it. But just because he won't get the inside info from the AD or anyone associated with it doesn't mean he can't try. It's not a journalist's responsibility to be buddy-buddy with those people he covers. Again, it looks like he's just trying to get a dialog going about the situation.

NBDefektor, the only thing I would say is it seems Kyle Ringo wants to get Solich on the record so he can shred him apart. But at the same time, Ringo is trying to come off as above the fray. Stop trying to speak for all CU fans and just say what you want to know. A columnist hiding behind the "CU fans want to know..." argument is beyond weak.

I'd bet Ringo's interview would be along the lines of, "shouldn't you be pushing for Bohn to be fired instead of helping him?" Screw Ringo.

I think this is a fair point of view to have, I just don't agree with it.

The AD needs a big donor like Solich and if he is willing to ship 8 figures of cash to CU, then I see no need to harass the guy. Frankly, Ringo should be calling up the citizens of Colorado and asking them why they rank 47th in the nation in collegiate funding. IMHO, Solich should have rose petals strewn on his path wherever he goes. With an obnoxious douche like Ringo, I'm surprised Solich just does't say screw it and buy another mansion or a mega yacht. Where I come from, when someone gives you a gift, you say thank you.

ringo is no johnny ringo. doc holiday thinks he's a daisy.

seriously, the gap in ability between woelk and ringo has become so manifest in these last few weeks. woelk, while i didn't always agree with him, had a point of view and he was thoughtful in his approach. ringo just throws a bunch of **** up against the wall to see what sticks. one minute he's giving bohn lap dances in his column and the next he's riding the buffs4life crowd reverse-cowboy. now he's angry that some dude who probably views ringo much the same way i view a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of my shoe won't return his calls.

uh, it is called journalism. you have to work for it, ringo. puking up hand-fed materials from either the CUAD or from B4L and then calling those "columns" is pathetic and sad. do so homework. work some sources. figure it out. this isn't celebrity journalism. you're a small time writer in a small market, covering a local college football team. sources aren't going to just come to you because you want them to. "DON'T THEY KNOW WHO I AM???"

come back, shane. or, mr. woelk. come back.
