What I'd like to see at CU

Hey guys 1st time poster. I'm a 2001 CU Grad. I love the Buffs, and I wanted to join the discussion.

Here is what I'd like to see happen at CU:

1) I would like CU to hire a new Athletic Director. I think a great choice would be Bill McCartney. I think the main role of an AD is to get the donors and fan base fired up and to raise funds. Who could do that better than ex-coach Mac? Imagine someone with his pull and history asking for new facilities, or asking for the boosters trust in leading a Head Coaching search.

2) After that I'd like to see a great recruiter brought in as Head Coach. The shape that our football program is in we might not be able to pull even a mid level conference Head Coach over. But if CSU can pull the OC from ALABAMA then why can't CU pull a solid OC from one of the current top programs? One that has a sharp mind and that can recruit and has the gravitas that being a coordinator at an LSU, Alabama or USC commands.

With that said here are some of the guys I'd like CU to look at:

Kirby Smart
John Chavis
Ed Orgeron
Kennedy Polamalu

We NEED someone that has experience recruiting in a big time college program. What do you guys think?

After reading your first point, I stopped. Oh boy. You might want to lurk for a while, and then maybe reply in a thread before writing something so stupid. Even then, it would still be really stupid.

1. Have you seen Bill McCartney recently? The dude is literally off of his rocker and has been publicly blasting CU as racist. No thanks. Bohn is far from perfect, but he is likely announcing huge new facilities ($200+ Million) before the end of the year. I'll stay the course.

2. I'll wait to see who they name before I judge the hire.

Welcome.

Not only that but he's also been advocating re-hiring Embree, so his first point negates his second point.

I'm impressed that you nailed the correct usage of the sarcasm font on your first post, good job

Welcome to the board. What did you major in, BTW?

Great to see new posters joining and contributing with provocative posts. Unfortunately you lost most of us w/ your 1st point. There are still plenty of people who back Mac but few of them are active on AB.

Despite what he did for our program in the 80's early 90's he has been a thorn in the side of CU the past few years beginning with pushing Embree and more recently with his baseless slandering of CU and racial accusations.

Well, I think that was brave. Even a well informed and thought out posting gets torn apart here, but geez! Talk about blood at a shark party.

It's good to have people representing that viewpoint. It's certainly not a rarity for among CU fans to advocate for Mac (just like it's not a rarity for people to say they want Logan to be the HC).

AllBuffs wouldn't be fun if we all agreed about everything.

Welcome to the board 2001Grad. I hope you don't quit after 1 post.

P.S. Regarding Mac, I think you might be advocating for the man you remember rather than the man he is. Also, it's a political impossibility. They couldn't even get him approved as the Grand Marshall of the CU parade a couple years ago.

In hindsight, the left-wingers on the hill who opposed Mac for Grand Marshall perhaps were using something called foresight.

If we made Mac AD, who would he hire right off the bat? Could you even imagine?

You guys are dicks! 2001Grad, stick around. I do, however, think your suggestions are...would not have a good outcome.

Hey guys, also a first time poster, but have been reading since Embree was fired (was on Rivals a few years back but got tired of the $$). Just want to add that this would be bad, at least the Mac part. He will most likely come back around once the next coach gets here and (hopefully) starts winning and that will get even more people on board. I know a lot of people still really respect Mac (I am not one of them) and his support will be important to get them back on board.

Yea, I quit reading as soon as you mentioned hiring mac back...GTFO! mac has lost his mind, we need him to stay away from the program. Just remember the good things he did here at CU and leave it at that...

It's funny, but when Allbuffs used to pile on new posters who shared stupid ideas (and I'm by no means that's the case here), it was oddly a more friendly place.

It makes no sense, but I think it's true.
