Goodman: Buffs for Life Need to get a Clue

Great read! These guys need to tone it down and get behind the program. A lot of people don't like Bohn, but they aren't so toxic they want to hurt the program.

And stop tarnishing the good name B4L earned by really helping people...some people may get turned off enough by your antics they give their money elsewhere.

I'm so glad this was written.

Hopefully these guys will lose the "You don't get to question me!" attitude and come to their collective senses.

Sure, anyone that doesn't agree with me is clueless. BTW I also want Mike Bohn fired.

Unlikely. They will just slam Goodman for not knowing what he's talking about, and not understanding the situation....

McCheese had the best take. Would these guys feel the same way if Embree played at KU? I doubt it too

Good read. It is time that the microscope gets turned from Mike Bohn onto these guys and their ridiculous agenda. You (CJ, Klatt, Alfred) didn't agree with Embree's firing, we get it. You've beaten it like a dead horse. Move on.

When you step back from the situation, the better perspective you have.

Which is why Embree, Al, Klatt are convinced they're right. They're too close to the program to see how disastrous it's been. They're saying all these little steps are being taken towards progress, and us fans don't see it so we should keep quiet. B.S. They have their heads in the sand. My message to them is step back, gain some perspective and then come back to us.

Regardless of their agenda (I don't see them stopping) these gentlemen need to understand the damage they are doing to B4L, Klatt told some caller he "doesn't understand what B4L is, and that it is a charitable organization not some political group." What Joel doesn't seem to understand is that the general public either doesn't know that, or doesn't care to distinguish. When 3 of the most prominent members of an organization come out consistently with the same talking points, and when the founder of an organization initially starts down the same road your average fan/person/consumer/voter is never going to distinguish.

B4L's best play at this point would be to publicly support the university and ask these three to shut the **** up, I think Jon is too hurt to do that right now, but the longer this goes the worse it will be for the long term health of B4L.

Great Article.
Living out of state, I don't get to listen to Klatt, CJ or Alfred very often. I am curious, have any of the three pointed out anything that happened on game day that indicated this staff would eventually be successful on the field?
I really wanted Jon and EB to succeed. But, even through my black and gold colored glasses, the evidence on the field was overwhelming that we were going in the wrong direction. Two years is too short to re-build a program. Agreed. But, if you are going the wrong direction more time is not the answer to success.

They refuse to discuss Embree at all.

Good question, and I think the answer is "no". It was all about changing the culture and doing the right thing. I never heard any of them claim that the players or recruiting was going in the right direction.

My impression of B4L was positive, but now is negative because they come off like whiny little children who don't get their way. Why do I say that? Aside from Bobby P and Mike McChesney, the only voices you hear are from CJ, Mac (although , not so much anymore) JK and Big Al who are so unbelievably biased it is embarassing.

It has been said before, leadership was no problem while Embree was getting paid, as soon as he gets canned for losing in ways never seen before at CU, they pitifully try to deflect from Embree's abysmal record to the AD as the "real" problem, which only became a problem we he wasn't doing what they wanted. I am a vocal critic of Bohn, often. But firing Embree was absolutely the right call and I applaud Bohn for doing it.

If their strategy turns me into a Bohn defender, that ought to show just how transparent and foolish the argument is.

Grow up. Your guy tried and failed. No shame at all in that, it happens all the time. I believe Embree worked hard, wanted to win, and hated that he didn't get it done. While I wasn't enthused by the hire, I wanted him to succeed. But he didn't, move on.

I agree with everything in the article, but we might be giving these guys too much credit for any influence they have. After all, what the local yokels say in our dusty little cow town is not even a blip on the national scene.

My impression of the B4L crowd is now more positive than ever. I hope to be as successful as most of the members of the B4L crowd.

Which B4L crowd? The one on the radio, or the one that is actually fulfilling the mission of B4L?

And hey my twitter feed was quoted in the article...

@MikeThompson: So how long will it take former Buffs like @BigAlRadio @Cjbuffs @joelklatt to get back on board. It’s surreal listening to them now. #bitter

@Cjbuffs: been on board fir 25yrs my friend. That won’t change but additional changes need to be made! Now what about the AD?

I would make one correction. My twitter feed is @MikeThomson22.

A definitive no. A big part of the fan frustration was that these guys would not even discuss Buff football during the regular season. When Kreckman would bring it up, CJ would act like Kreckman was trash talking instead of actually discussing the state of the football team. They swept it under the rug, and when the fans went ballistic, they just acted like it was normal "rebuilding".

It's hard to be objective when friendships are involved. But their job requires them to have some level of objectivity. If I was their boss, we would be having long conversations.

Charles Johnson is right, the team is rebuilding, what did you expect when you play freshmen against mostly Seniors and Juniors on teams like USC, Stanford. Embo took over a bad program, 2 years is not enough to reasonable judge him in my opinion. But time to move on and support the new coach.

I don't know. Ask Mike MacIntyre. He took over a program in worse shape at San Jose State who was also short of 10 scholarships at the time and improved their win total by 4 wins in year 2. So yeah, pretty much nuked your argument. Please try again.

He took a bad situation and made it worse. End of discussion.

Getting blown out by Stanford and USC was expected. But getting name-the-scored by almost everyone else was an indication that things needed to change.

I am obviously a bit bias towards Eric, but I thought he did a good job at the very least explaining what B4L actually is...before talking about his opinions on those three hosts.

Don't forget to add being forced to play freshmen against mostly juniors and seniors on other teams. But heck it is only objective thinking, if i only consider the facts that you agree to. Embo had a tough job, even Nick Saban would have struggled in the same environment.

Objectively, the Buffs were an all-around terrible team in 2012. We can debate the reasons, but the facts about the 2012 point to one of the worst teams in the country.
