Has anyone seen him play around that can vouch for that 4.4 speed? If so, thats pretty impressive for his size. Chris Brown 2.0?

Didn't access the link but pretty sure this Ballage is related to Howard Ballage, who played RB at CU in the 70s after graduating from Pueblo South.

This kid is the best HS running back I have ever seen in person. My opinion is that he is head and shoulders better than any other running back in the state. He should be CU's #1 target in Colorado.

Next year is pretty important for us as far as in-state recruiting goes IMO. We need to land a few of the top guys. Ballage sure seems like a kid who will get double digit offers sooner rather than later.

Also seems like a guy who wants to go out of state. No real source, just recently we don't get the best of CO

We have to give them a reason to stay in state. Barnett got more than his share of top Colorado kids, one of the building blocks of Mac's success was a core of Colorado kids, Eddie Crowder got the best kids out of Colorado.

Yes there are issues to deal with. A lot of Colorado kids have families who don't have ties to Colorado, the program has been down, some kids just want to get away.

At the same time we know that when Colorado coaches have truly made the effort they have gotten their share of the quality Colorado kids. We have a top quality school in a beautiful state in a quality conference. Other schools with a lot less that we have convince kids to stay in state selling the ability to go home for dinner on a weekend and being close to their HS friends.

When I hear about Colorado recruits who say that they haven't been given the time of day, have been put on the back burner, been ignored, etc. then it is hard to believe that all these kids are going elsewhere just because they "want to go out of state." We need to look at why they want to go out of state.

This is the kind of kid who could be a keystone player for a program. He looks like a good enough athlete to be a difference maker, one of those guys that opposing coaches spend time worrying about.

Colorado doesn't have enough quality players to build a program around but when we have won we have had a core of guys like this on along with our Cali and Tx players.

From watching the video you can definitely tell that the guy is fast. It's just a matter of what position he'll play. Definitely worth the offer in my opinion.

Good to see the coaches are on top of this. Great looking prospect that I can see playing LB or RB pretty easily. Hopefully we can get either him or McCaffrey.

This sounds dumb, but we are one chrome Ralphie helmet away from landing more talent like this kid.

We really need to get Josh more carries this spring. He should have had much more last year.
I totally agree. I started a thread on that during the season. I don't understand why our last staff did not give him hardly any opportunities. Every time he ran he seemed to average like 7 yards/carry. The supposed explanation was that he wasn't a good enough all around back but I think he was in the doghouse for some reason.

Anyway, this Ballage kid seems like the real deal. Hopefully he is motivated to stay close to home for some reason.

It sounds like we have a national recruit on our hands. Also if he wants to play RB... Oregon doesn't usually go after an RB like him

AS much as I and others hate to admit it, this is true. The national spot light has been placed on Oregon. Everyone is out there with a "what will they wear next" type of interest. Its time to join the 21st century with our Uni's its what alot of the high school kids want out of their college. That is unless you have a tradition like Bama, Michigan, USC, etc.

If a chrome helmet and some neon socks are what it takes to land talent like this, then lets go.

I agree. Come through for us Josh Ford!
Not sure I would count on Josh to sell CU. I don't think he has had the greatest experience and truthfully I have a hard time understanding why he hasn't gotten more carries b/c every time he does, he runs for 7 yds a pop. I am hoping he sees the field more this year.
