Adam says his visit this weekend is official, which would make him class of '12, right?

Gaines is visiting this weekend with Shane Dillon. He was the second leading receiver on Christian's team as a senior: 47 catches, 557 yards, 6 TDs.

Good catch guys, he is a 2012 prospect.

When we were learning about Shane Dillon, the following video was posted and several people asked "Who is #82?":

Here was my reply:

#82 is Jason Gaines. WR, LB. 6'4" 200 lbs. He will be a senior this season and should be Dillon's go-to guy.

2010 stats over 9 games:

Rushing- 14 carries for 114 yards (8.46 ypc)
Receiving- 45 catches for 573 yards (12.46 avg), 3 TDs

The staff seems intent on bringing in a third TE, no matter what. Not sure what to think.

Gaines will be going to a JUCO. But CU will be his preference in 2 years.

Fantastic article by Rivals today. Gaines is a good kid you want to root for and the Dillon family seem like great folks too.

This may be the best for all involved. Save CU a scholly but if he turns out to be a player we get a couple of solid years out of him in the future. For him JUCO gives him a chance to get bigger and stronger and develop his skills playing while also taking care of some academic things.

From the CUatthegame interview with the Dillon Family

Were there other players from Shane’s school being recruited by Colorado? By any other BCS conference schools? Did they have any success/horror stories about their recruitment?
Jason Gaines, who has lived with us for 3 years and we consider to be another one of our own children, was recruited by CU and a few others. Jason will still be going to CU after he is done at his JC. When Coach Mac met with Shane last week he seemed to already know all about Jason, and that was exciting for Shane. Jason is 6’4” 210 pounds and was probably to best receiver in San Diego County last year. He was a basketball player his entire life, and Shane convinced him to play football his junior year. He was a natural and has amazing potential to be great.

explains why we would not be taking a TE this year. We took 3 last year and redshirted 2. This kid is the same class. We don't need more this year.

Before we read too much into this isn't possible he's just coming with the Dillon family for the spring game?

So does anyone know the real deal here? Is he going to be on the team this summer/Fall? Seems we don't have a lot dug up on him yet. What exactly has he been doing this past year, highlights, etc? We could certainly use another TE especially if he is a good receiver.

Stuart has the scoop we know so far on his website. Straight from the people who live with him. Some kind of arrangement may be in place and it looks like after Jason finishes some JC classes he will be Boulder bound for next spring's practices.

Now that we picked up a commit from a TE/Ath are we still looking at bringing him in?
