Visitors this weekend

Scout: Hardaway, Awuzie, Montegut, and Ross
247: Ross, James Ooten, Kiel Robinson, Awuzie, Adkins
Rivals is subscriber content

Who is this Ooten fellow?

A receiver from the same California school that produced Davien Payne. Unclear if we're looking at him as a WR or DB so probably best to consider him an ATH at this point. Think he is currently committed to New Mexico State.

Adkins, Awuzie, Montegut, Robinson, Ooten, Thompson

and CU commits:

Dunston, Frazier, Ross, Liufau, Sutton, Huckins, Kronshage

Awuzie. After him, Awuzie probably.
I am still not clear on who you are hoping commits out of this weekend :)

I was personally leaning towards Thompson b/c I like our depth chart at CB better than Safety (assuming no mass exodus of our young CBs)

In order to have a pipeline, you'd like to take 1 guy for every position per year (22 guys, 2 corners). We took 4 last year, but played 3 of them, who are now Sophomores (Wright, Crawley, Hall). Redshirted Walker.
We need to take at least one corner THIS year. Awuzie looks promising.

Other DB prospects: Ooten and Thompson

LB: Robinson & Montegut

RB: Adkins (I don't see this as a critical need unless Crowder and Creed are moving to D)

We have room for 4-5 commits as of right now, maybe 1-2 more based on some soft commits.

It looks like we are lining up a couple WR's to visit on 1/25 depending on how firm Ross and Dunston end up being come Monday. Both Joshua Jones and Elroy Masters look pretty formidable.

Awuzie is physical and big enough to play either safety or corner imo.

Thompson seems like a lock for Minnesota, but if he's not he'd be a solid addition.

Ooten looks decent, would be risky.

Adkins looks good, but lacks top end speed and I'm not sure he's really 5'11 195.

Robinson I like, good speed, but the weigh in will be important.

Montegut is similar to Robinson. Good looking prospect, but the weigh in will tell it all.

I'd personally drop Dunston and/or Ross and take Masters and Hardaway.

It's nice to see that HCMM reviewed the roster and the film and came to the same conclusions we all did. This team needed WRs, LBs and DBs. Not just for depth but also to increase overall athleticism for special teams coverage & returns.

This is a transition class and there will be a lot of "developmental" players in this class. It's going to be a few years before we can judge how good it is. But at least they're now getting bodies in the right places.

I think there is a lot to sort out with the DBs still. A guy like Hall may be a candidate for safety down the line. We need some versatile guys back there for now and Awuzie fits the bill.

Awuzie looks like a very good safety prospect.

Tedric Thompson would be an excellent addition at safety

Adkins- not convinced he will play RB in College

Ooten- really like Ooten at WR or CB.

Melifonwu- like his pass rush skills, don't think there will be space for both Montegut and Robinson if Melifonwu signs. The staff is also after Tim Coleman.

Every single one of our commits will have visited by this weekend. So it appears that MacIntyre would like the vast majority of this class filled in the next week or so (commits usually visit with other guys to help sell)

I'm curious to see what last minute surprises we may have. Hopefully Mac can use his southern draw to schmooze some kid and his parents into choosing CU!

Thought I read somewhere that soem visits are set up for the 25th and then maybe 1 on the 1st.

247's visit list now has a RB/S committed to SJSU visiting this weekend. Maxpreps stats:

1951 yards at 11.75 yards/carry for 32 TD's

"To the Almighty Weatherman God in the sky"...... Given that last weekend was damn cold and not all that typical, plus given that we have all been through the meat grinder (School, Players, Coaches, Fans, whoever I missed), I would like to humbly request a beautiful and typical sunny Boulder weekend so that our rather large group of talented football recruits coming this weekend (including some capable late adds) may further enjoy their stay and help us get humpty back together again!

Having looked at a majority of these recruits on film and read about them all... I would be very happy with sealing up this class (just close fellas) and moving our bus forward! Go Buffs!

There are more guys visiting this weekend than spots. Not all these guys have committable offers. And some are also grey shirt offers.

Just wanted to get that in before the board melts down when a kid chooses (SJSU, Rice, N. Texas State, Fresno State.....) after his visit here.

I really hope going overboard with the grayshirt offers is a thing of the past. A grayshirt is not going to make most of these prospects any better "takes" than they are now. All it does is negatively affect numbers down the line.
