Calling Embree Water Bottle is really dumb

It needed to be said.:wink2:

The way JE choose to handle his dismissal was pretty ugly but in the end I don't don't dislike the guy.

He wasn't prepared to deal with the job he faced but I don't question his effort. The ugly separation probably had a lot to do with him being fully emotionally invested. He put in his full effort, he died a little with every loss. In the end he just didn't have what it took despite his efforts.

On the other hand I am much more comfortable with most of the insults directed at the Bozo from Boise.

I dislike Embree and I don' tlike the Water bottle thing. Frankly, Ringo is the idiot that **** should be flung at.

it's par for the course for many of CU's dumbass fans to personally ridicule Embree. They did the same thing with Barnett and Hawkins. The difference is that the CU fan base has now succeeded in permanently alienating from the program some of the best players ever at CU, including Embree, Bienemy (who now absolutely despises CU), McGee, Alfred Williams etc, and its greatest coach in history in McCartney. Those players and Mac are at the root of the great tradition this program once had.

CU had tradition before Mac. Also, it still has tradition. Shocking, I know.

and they've accounted for zero meaningful wins since about 1994.

Yes, it is the fans fault that the school was browbeaten into hiring Embree and Bieniemy, and the fans fault that they failed to a historic level. It is the fans fault that they, and more to the point, their supporters refuse to acknowledge that failure and instead continue to act as if the former players promoted to levels they never earned and at which they were unable to perform are the victims here, and the people who actually expect better than a 1-11 season from CU football are unreasonable villains.

What terrible fans CU has. Thank God for upstanding people such as yourself who can tell us impartially just how foolish we are being.

You never disappoint. Of course it's the fans fault.

I agree 100%. CU fans are surely the only fans in the nation bad enough to disparage a former coach who went 4-21.

Is there really any evidence of permanent alienation? If so, how much is on dumbass fans and how much is on Bohn/DiStephano/Benson?

I have not seen anything that supports your assertion that Bienemy absolutely despises CU to the point of permanent alienation. Spill the beans, please.

I suspect that some of the best people that you have mentioned will continue to bleed BnG, but just not from so lofty of a bully pulpit.

Embree apparently gave the effort but didn't have the pedigree to lead a bigtime college program. Those are just the facts. Everyone seems to agree he worked his tail off, but if his style of working your tail off gets you 4 wins in 2 years and a second season of epic beatdowns and national laughing stock status then I don't want his kind of effort. Then to bow out the way he did, adding to the national laughing stock status, I think Water Bottle is a fitting nickname. His sideline antic were a joke. His in game adjustments were a joke. His choice of O and D coordinators were a joke. Why shouldn't his nickname be a joke? very fitting if you ask me.

Rep+!

Rialto, please don't attempt to speak for those of us that played for coach Mac. Most of us understand the game and business of college football and realize that it is a results driven entity that can hurt feelings or even build resentments. We don't need your attempts to "win the internets" on our behalf.

And fans of other teams speak noting but unicorns and lollipops for incompetent coaches, with never a word of personal criticism.

And this happened even before the Internet. Notre Dame fans criticized Gary Faust in a way that makes CU fans' criticisms of Water Bottle positively genteel: billboards reading "oust Faust." Sending a moving truck to his house to pack up his belongings, etc. If Water Bottle wanted to coach in the big leagues, he should have been ready for some heat.

Not sure if serious, or just trolling for a rise. If serious, your belt size is about 30 times your IQ.

I'm pretty sure Embree and those others alienated themselves with their behavior. What exactly did the fan base do?

All they did is show up in the tens of thousands for games and generate tens of millions of dollars for the AD through ticket purchases, donations, merchandise and TV eyeballs that translate into network revenue.
