Re: '13 CO DE Timothy Coleman (Verbal to Colorado)

Welcome! I'm sure you'll like your time in Boulder better than you would've enjoyed Ft. Collins.

Welcome. Zero chance of a grayshirt. No chance he decommits from a regular offer to grayshirt

I wouldn't say that's always the case. It would be if his other schools were in a BCS conference, but they aren't. Being a local kid he doesn't have to be in school right away anyway. He can take 6 credits next semester if he wants (right?).

Not a bad thing to come right in and reach out to Mullen. Just based on size and speed, this kid looks like he has potential.

Doesn't even turn 18 until October. Hopefully he continues to grow and bulk up some more.

+1 It's surprising that we knew nothing about him and now he's accepted an offer.

6-3, 246lbs, and just turned 17 in October?

Redshirt this kid, get him into the weight room, and he will make a nice addition to the team by 2014. If he's 246 lbs at 17, he could grow into a defensive tackle by the time 2015 or so rolls around.

Plus he's from Colorado. I've got absolutely no problem with this one.

Coleman looks like a good athletic big man could play SDE or DT or even OL if he adds weight. Played OT and DE for Mullen. The star rating is irrelevant, the guy suffered a lot of injuries last year,

Anybody have anything substantive to say about Timothy Coleman as a prospect?

I like that he is young. He seems to fit the mold that coach is looking for. Developmental guy that probably won't play very much his first 2 to 3 years on campus but has the projected measurables as a RS JR/SR. I am wondering why TCU wasn't in on him. They seem to also like to project athletes and also try to develop them. That has me a little concerned. Any more info on the injury. I didn't know he had a previous injury.

I do like stealing recruits from CSU when we must!

I had heard that he was the biggest "upside" prospect in the state before last season started. Then, I think he only played 1 game as a senior due to the knee injury and didn't have the chance to blow up the way some people were expecting. While he was a CSU commit, I was concerned that he'd be one of those guys who causes us a lot of problems.

I'm not going to try to get people overly excited about a 2* prospect with no senior film and who is coming off knee surgery. But I do believe that we're going to end up liking that HCMM got him signed to CU.

Chalk this up as another questionable signing IMO.

Hey, Dave Logan recruited him to Mullen. That means he has pretty good potential! And, from being at 'Bama, McClain knows talent, his liking this kid says a lot, even if he now coachs the Lammies.

I really like the fact that he's only 17; means he will likely grow into a DT role. If he could do that and keep near his 4.8 speed, that would be terrific and a real steal for the Buffs.

Why would TCU take a chance on a COLO kid when they have Texas to recruit for developmentals? Developmentlas from Texas, come with 4-5 years of decent or better HS coaching in year-round programs!

I recall the injury was to his ACL, which, anymore, is an annoying, season-ending injury, not career-threatening, like in the old days. Ask PRich about knees and see what A Peterson did in coming back. With today's surgical and rehab tecniques, players can actually come back and be better than before the injury, since "crap" in the knee may have gotten cleaned up and weaker muscles strengthened during rehab.
