UVA to host Oregon in 2013

This will be the 4th home-and-home that UVA has scheduled with Pac-10 teams starting with the USC series in 2008/10. They also have a series with UCLA in 2014-15 and Stanford in 2017-18

Barring 11th-hour complications, the Oregon Ducks, whose dynamic, warp-speed, spread offense has averaged at least 46 points per game the past three years, will play the Cavaliers at Scott Stadium, likely on Sept. 7, according to several ACC sources. Virginia would then visit Oregon in 2016.

This year’s game would replace the Cavaliers’ previously scheduled date at Penn State, which last week opted to play Central Florida instead.

Damn it. No mention of CU on the Cav's schedule.

UVA is on my wish list of CU roadies, along with LSU, Ole Miss, Wiscy, Penn State and Army at West Point.

I do not understand. It is possible to schedule a home and home vs. another BCS school?

Strange...

 should be fun to see this slaughter in person.

The whole situation is very strange. Penn State decided to drop their home game against UVA, to play...UCF. It's odd because UCF is nearly as good as UVA. A lot of folks thought UVA would play Mizzou due to both teams needing an opponent, but alas, it's Oregon.

CU should really play UVA. You will not find a more similar town to Boulder in the entire country than Charlottesville. And if any program is used to the suffering that we've been through, it's UVA. The only downside is the elitist behavior can be a bit of a turnoff ("Carruthers, should I wear the matlock or the camel hair?"), but the fans are overwhelmingly friendly and Scott Stadium is a beautiful place.

Kyle Long has got to be wishing he had 1 more year at Oregon. Charlottesville native, graduated high school at St. Anne's Belfield (alma mater of yours truly, CVilleBuff) literally right next to the UVA campus and half a mile from Scott Stadium.

Now that I'll be in the area, might make the drive to Charlottesville to see this one...

Let me know if you're making it up, I go to most games. I'm often the guy in the CU shirt  Scott Stadium is a great place to spend a fall Saturday, and you can bet it'll be jampacked with 65k for Oregon. Make it a weekend trip -- UVA is the most beautiful campus in the East. And at the very least, you've also got to hit Monticello (if not Montpelier as well). There are tons of vineyards here, and there's a solid and expanding brewery scene as well. Shenandoah National Park/Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Drive are highly recommended as well.

Definitely have to think about it - since there's a damn good chance that after this move, we may be out there for the time the twins graduate high school, would be wise for them to get a look at the UVa campus as a possibility for college down the line. Don't get me wrong, they have CU in their hearts, but Virginia state schools are much more friendly to military and their dependents than CU will ever hope to be.

This is definitely a military friendly state. Naturally I highly encourage CU , but it doesn't get much better than the universities Virginia has to offer. UVA and William & Mary are two of the most prestigious public universities in the nation. Virginia Tech is now a top 30 public university and continues to ascend. James Madison is fantastic. Mary Washington is an excellent small public university. George Mason, Old Dominion and Virginia Commonwealth all have great programs in respective fields. On the private side you've got Richmond, Washington & Lee, Hampden-Sydney just to name a few. There are many more, but that's the brief intro.

UVA is one of those campuses that once you set foot on, it's hard to beat. UVA has been looking to see how CU manages with so little state funding. UVA's keeps getting reduced, although at this point it still is considerably more than what CU gets, but they're learning from the masters...

Speaking of UVA, Chip Kelly hired UVA's OC, Bill Lazor to be his QB in Philadelphia. Now, UVA has hired Steve Fairchild at OC. Too bad he's OC in name only with Tom O'Brien lurking in the background.
