The Good News

With the misery of 83-80 and now tonight, it means we're due

Watch the Buffs with the March Madness buzzer beater to advance to the Sweet 16

CVille, if I knew that this was going to happen like you say then I'd be with you. But you know what? Karma doesn't always come around. Sometimes you just get raped and there isn't a happy ending to the story.

Other good news: Once again we have confirmed that Spencer truly is unstoppable. He can be contained at times, but he is usually the best player on the court and it is awesome to watch. XJ is the real deal as well. He had another huge game. Not great offensively tonight and had some ball handling problems causing turnovers, but he grows every game.

Time will tell, Nik. Obviously it may not happen exactly as I say, but this program has 'it' under Tad, IMO. We're going to experience some great things down the stretch. It may be revenge on ASU in the Pac-12 Tournament. It may be another NCAA Tournament victory. I just don't see this team pissing away the season and pouting our way to an NIT First Round exit.

Great post. Spencer is absolutely unreal. Most CU fans don't know what they have SD. This guy can do anything.

Defend 1-3 (this is completely underrated by the way). Check
Hit the mid range shot. Check
Hit the 3. Check
Drive to the hole and do whatever he wants. Check

This guy is absolutely unreal. If we have him back after his last 3 games, this team will be something special next year. Hell, they may even still be something special this year. He is a 6-6 point guard. NBA GM's drool over these kind of guys with this kind of skill set

No question about it, the Mayor is as special a player as we have had at CU. On another note, Dre did a fantastic job stepping into the middle when Scott went down. He was giving up about 6 inches and about 60lbs and shut down the Bachynski. Really nice effort

Yeah. Dre had 15 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots tonight. He also took 11 shots, making 4 for 8 points.

Amazing that a guy who was that active on the glass and took 11 shots didn't actually go to the free throw line all night. Funny thing, that.

I noticed that. As much as he was driving me nuts he did an excellent job on Oger face. Tad knows defense. That's for sure

Not until we have a legitimate perimeter shooter.

Spencer is shooting 39.1%, Ski 33.9%, Dre 36.4%, and XJ 39%. Talton and Stalzer have both shown they can knock down the 3 as well, but have a small sample. I agree we don't have the spot up sharpshooter in this group, but we have a lot of guys who make a good percentage. Also, from all reports Chris Jenkins is killing it in practice this year and is regarded as a pure shooter who is 6'7", long, and has a high release. He will be "open" a lot and be able to spread the defense with his range. We also get to look forward to incoming Fr Dustin Thomas who is shooting almost 50% from the 3 in his senior season, sitting at 6'8" and good shooting like that does translate to college because the hoop is the same size.

Future looks bright.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he also gone 3 games now without missing a FT?

Yep. 31 straight. Unreal. Might challenge Corey's record which was 45 straight if I remember correctly.

Another positive that may come from this is that when Josh Scott hopefully makes a speedy recovery, he may play with a mask on which would hopefully make him a little tougher down low like it did for SHT last year. Yes I'm aware that is a bit of a stretch, but I gotta find some silver linings. Sending Karma to Josh tonight.

Rough loss last night, but c'ville is right. The crappy finish we had to the end of last season (lost both away in oregon) was totally washed away by the performance in the pac12 tourney and down in ABQ.
The bubble is soft, and barring a total collapse we should be in. Our numbers are good, the conf isnt terrible like it was last year, and we have wins over ranked teams in AZ, Baylor and OU, with the chance for another win over a ranked team in the coming weeks, as long as OU can stay in the rankings.

The one thing Spencer needs to work on is finishing after contact. He seems to have an extremely low number of and ones for the huge amount of free throws he makes.
