Watch #11 in Purple. He's featured heavily in the video below.

That video was frustrating as hell to watch. The whole thing was sped up like 1.5X.

That said, the kid looks talented.

Jenkins is regarded as the #1 prospect in the state of Arizona for 2015. Rivals lists him as a SG, but he has a reputation as a strong distributor and you can see his creativity in the video above. He may also be the best defender in the state of Arizona as a sophomore. He's still developing his shot, but he looks like he could be a big-time prospect for the '15 class.

Also of note, he went head-to-head with Jaron Hopkins last week and held J-Hop to 9 points before he fouled out, as Dobson lost in the state playoffs. Jenkins notched a triple-double, scoring a career-high 25 points in the contest.

To this point, there's no indication of interest between Jenkins and CU, but with our efforts in AZ the last few years and Jenkins defensive ability, I'm guessing we'll be talking about him in the near future.

Scouting Report

ESPN Analyst
Updated 01/18/2013
Strengths:

Jenkins is rangy left-handed point guard with great size, savvy, and a non-stop motor. He affects the game in multiple ways due to his feel for the game and a willingness to win. He has a tight handle and a tremendous burst in transition.

HoopsReport's 4th Annual Arizona Preseason All-State Teams: Class of 2015 *****Jalen Jenkins

You know how we do things here at HoopsReport, always saving the best for last and in Arizona's 2015 class the best just happens to 6'4 SUPER ATHLETIC, BALL HAWKING (G) Jalen Jenkins out of Mesa HS. Jenkins is a superior athlete that has an outstanding motor and defensively, Jenkins is just as impressive. Jenkins has been Arizona's top prospect in the 2015 ever since his arrival in 2010 by way of Seattle, WA. Jenkins has a pretty good mid & long range game but "POSTERIZING FOES" is his forte. Defensively, Jenkins plays the passing lanes as good as anyone and just maybe the state’s top defender regardless of class. Look for Jenkins to have a big season for the Jack Rabbits and look for Jenkins to make noise this up coming spring and summer on the SPRING & SUMMER CIRCUIT. Jenkins will definitely be in HoopsReport's class of 2015 winter "National Player Rankings" once they are complete.

Jared Cohen‏@JaredPros2PrepsMesa HC Shane Burcar after game told me that with most kids you have to teach that competitive fire. He never had to teach that to Jenkins.

Very impressive.

Thanks, FUTURE-PG. I added the ESPN profile link to the top.

Everyone - careful when searching. There's another guy named Jalen Jenkins from the Bronx who committed to George Mason last year. If you google, use "2015" in your search and you should be ok. I found one site that has Jenkins among its Top 10 national recruits for the 2015 class. I hope we're recruiting him. His style of play reads like a prototype blueprint for what Tad Boyle coaches.

FUTURE-PG, thanks for the info, and thanks to Nik for updating the profile.

Having two Jalen Jenkins' definitely makes a search challenging. There were multiple times I thought I'd found additional profiles, only to see the George Mason commit and realize I had the wrong guy.

How funny would it be if George Mason thought they got a commit from this kid in Arizona. Talk about ackward.

The older I get, the faster these recruiting years go. So much talk about 2015 and we're going to start hearing a lot more about the 2016 guys soon.

Regarding Jenkins, I am really impressed. He has the defensive mentality that Tad Boyle loves. He's also got the length that fits the scheme. Boyle wants to overwhelm teams with speed, length and defensive intensity. I really hope that Jenkins is firmly on the radar. It's hard to imagine he wouldn't be considering that we signed Hopkins and are recruiting a number of AZ prospects for 2014.

I can't wait to see how Jenkins performs on the summer circuit this year.

Thanks as always for the updates and info, FUTURE-PG.

FUTURE-PG, outside of the reported offers, do you know which schools are showing interest in Jenkins or who he is looking at?

Hey Mattrob

At this time Jenkins has all of the Pac 12 showing interest along with Gonzaga, Marquette, Indiana

When does the traveling team get started this year and is it going to be the AZ Magic again, FUTURE-PG?

Thanks FUTURE-PG. It's tough to find much information on kids beyond the 2014 class, so I appreciate the updates.

ESPN gave Jenkins 4 stars, with an 80 grade, and currently have him as the #19 PG in 2015.
