2012-13 Colorado Buffaloes @ Stanford Basketball game thread

Join us tonight for the 9pm MST tip-off from Maples pavilion in Stanford California as the Buffs take on, you guessed it the Stanford Cardinal. Last year the Cardinal whipped our mighty Buffaloes twice, this year so far we have returned the favor for one of those beat-downs. Headed into their gym and with Josh Scott looking unlikely to play the Buffs have a tall order on their hands.

PacHoops called this a trap game in his week 9 pac-12 preview and Vegas has the Cardinal favored by 3. As normal Chat will be up.

Go Buffs!

Stanford is favored by 3 from what I've seen. RealTimeRPI gives the Buffs a 40.5% chance of winning, predicting a 71-66 Stanford win. Stanford is 10-4 at home this year, with the Buffs 4-6 on the road. Stanford has lost 3/4 to have their NCAA Tournament hopes vanish, they may be a little demoralized, but I wouldn't expect anything other than their top effort. The Buffs may be in good shape for the time being, but that can quickly change. This is a vital game. This is exactly the type of road game that NCAA Tournament teams win.

Spread is up to 4 now. KenPom has this at 67-64 Stanford, with CU having a 40% chance to win. Sagarin has Stanford favored by 2.5 and Stanford has a fairly average home court advantage of 4.3 pts.

Stanford has the 2nd fastest pace in the conference and they take care of the ball better than anybody in the conference, only turning it over on 15.1% of possessions.

absinthe ... you sure about that time? ESPN has it listed @ 9pm MST. The CU Buffs site has it listed @ 8pm, but I think that's wrong.

EDIT: Also the CU Buffs site has the game on ESPNU, but my Dish guide says it's on ESPN2.

2nd EDIT: I was looking at the Stanford game in January ... my bad. But the game is @ 9 MST on ESPN2.

It is ESPN2.

Spread has moved up across the board to 4. Probably anticipation on Josh being available or not. Surprising to me that this game is not anticipated to be closer than that. This is probably going to be a very close game but hope I am wrong and CU comes out blasting! Find a way Buffs! Would be a biggie if they can sweep these guys.

This one will be a little tougher matchup-wise than Utah. Although their main big guy is only 6'10", their seven and eight guys in turns of minutes are 6'11 and 6'9. I suspect we'll see Stanford go big quite a bit in this one.

*This is predicated on the assumption that Scott will not play.

Line is up to CU +5.5 in some places now. That seems like a lot with our with or with out Scott.

Well, we're packing up ready to head over to the game. Was hoping to hear Josh was playing, but I guess we'll just have to see. Go Buffs!

Well we ran wild on these bitches last time but now we're down Scott, on their court and facing a team wanting revenge. What are our odds gents?

welcome to my world

I was thinking how awesome you were earlier today. It was right after I found out the CU game starts at 11PM local time. I have even more respect for you now. I even forgive you a little bit for not having made a road trip to Colorado yet.

We're the lucky ones, ASU @ UCLA doesn't start until 11:30PM tonight
